Cleans my soldering iron tips nicely. I used a sponge for years.

Picked this up to clean my soldering iron tip between joints and it works like a charm. Way nicer than constantly jamming the tip into a wet sponge and shocking the temp every minute. The wire ball scrubs the oxidation off fast and the tip comes out shiny and ready to go again with almost no effort. I also like that it came as a 5-pack, so I’m set for a while and can swap in a fresh ball when this one gets gunked up. That said, I can’t help feeling like the “metal” is a little sus. It works just fine, but it doesn’t quite feel like legit brass to me, more like some kind of synthetic or plated mystery material. The base is also pretty lightweight, so it can scoot around the desk a bit unless you park it on a mat or something. Overall though, for the price and how much kinder it feels on the tip compared to a wet sponge, I’m definitley happy with it. If you’re doing any regular soldering at all, this is a simple upgrade that makes the whole process smoother.

This tip cleaner was very nice, I added magnets on the bottom to help keep it in place, it has extra copper wire balls so you can replace as needed OR use them at another soldering station or location, toss one in the tool box!

It works as intended, 2 balls fit at the same time 1 ball makes it look empty - It brings 5, if it had grip at the bottom it would be perfect but for the price its great

I picked these up to replace what originally came with my soldering iron. Great little kid!

It works exactly as expected and promised. If I had any “wishes” for it, they would be that either more material was included or that the chamber to hold it was a little smaller. Right now, it could hold all three of the “pads”, which would, I think, do a better job of cleaning the tip, by more adequately surrounding it during cleaning. But, that’s easily achieved by me, I just put all three pads in rather than save them as replacements. The other change I’d like to see is adhesive or a screw base or something to hold it all steady so you don’t need two hands to clean your tip.

Cheap and simple for my soldering needs.
