However, it has a very low electrical resistance, so you need a low voltage and high current unless you use a very long piece of the wire. Review: This is a legit wire making company. It's not a random collection of letters selling junk. I bought Kanthal and also Nichrome wire. According to the internet (look this up especially if you are inhaling anything) Nichrome heats up quicker (like for vaping coils) but is less durable. I question the idea of inhaling nickel in any quantity. Kanthal heats up less quickly. But its more durable and less susceptible to chemical attack. It's better suited for electric kilns. The concept of "heats up less quickly" is one of those things that the internet makes sound like it's an amount that is important but it is not. The wire gets stupid hot stupid quick. I am sure it takes a fraction of a second longer. If you are hitting the pipe 2000 times a day then 0.2 seconds per hit might make a difference. Again inhaling the off products of a glowing wire... probably should be considered carefully.

I make my own ceramic jewelry, and need wire that will withstand the high temperatures inside a kiln. This wire is sturdy, but at this gauge, still flexible enough to bend and cut easily. The only problem I had is that I had to take off the outer plastic ring in order to unwind it, and that caused the whole spool to unravel at once.
