What is the length of the support

the actual support is about 18 in.from lower back to between shouler blades.across back is about 11 in.the overall measurements are 3 or 4 more in.added.it is larger than most supports i have used.it is very effective and useful to me.i do not use it for driving,mainly cause i am a very large tall person.well worth the money,i think.

Is this better than a mesh? I recently went to chiropractor. They had mesh back supports on chairs. Looked flimsy bu I liked it! Can u compare the 2?

HiHave never tried the mesh support, but have been using this for many years. It is a life saver for me. I take it with me to lectures where there is a space in the chairs between the shoulder area and the seat. It fills up the gap and provides continual support. It is light weight to carry. I take it,to the movies if I am unsure about the chairs; also to restaurants and even on the train. Its permanent place is in the car. Sorry that I can't compare it to the mesh,ones.Good luck,Nancy

What material is it made out of? Work with recliner? Stiff, or more flexible?

Mine looks just like the photo. My covering material is a soft microfiber type and is wearing well even after heavy use for over a year. The form itself is stiff. I use it with my office chair and also with a Mission Morris type chair that sits too far back for me. I don't use it with my LazyBoy recliner as it is very comfortable as is. However, I did try it with my Lazy Boy and it worked well when I was sitting up, but when I reclined, it left my head with no support. Hope this helps.

Does this backrest fit on a wheelchair?

The base of the backrest is 18" wide so as long as the width of the chair is at least that wide, it will fit. The only other possible issue is that the backrest is approx. 5" deep, so this would reduce the chair space for the occupant.
