Google Nest x Yale Lock - Tamper-Proof Smart Lock for Keyless Entry - Keypad Deadbolt Lock for Front Door - Oil Rubbed Bronze

Install was quick and easy, it wasn't a perfect match for my door but with some tweaking I made it work. Main issue now is the weather strips on my door are a tad thick so the smart lock has a tendency to stop on the last 1/8th of an inch when locking and so it will say the door didn't lock, even though it did, it's only a sliver short of being fully engaged. That's not the locks fault though. The reason for 3 stars is the Nest Connect that came with it is (hopefully) a faulty model. It worked initially, but about 15 minutes after the full install the connect went offline and was unreachable. I removed it form the nest account and factory reset it, all seemed fine until I want to re-add it to the account, the phone (pixel 4 xl) could no longer detect it. I tried creating a new account, no dice. Tried my wifes iPhone, no dice, tried an iPad, no dice. Tried my kindle fire, no dice. Insert 3 hours of trying everything in a bag of tricks as a network admin with no luck. Ultimately got in touch with Google support and after a brief explanation of the issue and what I had done already to try to fix it they didn't make me go back through any troubleshooting, simply said they'd send me a slip to send mine back and they would send a replacement. If I get a new connect that is fully functional, the review will go up to 5 stars, the lock itself works great and I have zero complaints about that part of the package. Edit: just realized now a year later I neglected to update this. Google sent me a new functional nest extender and all worked after that, so the review.has been changed to give stars.

Product met my expectations

Installed it a few days ago, and I am more than happy with it so far. I yet have to try out the auto-lock feature using geofencing. Works nicely with my Google Assistant devices. Got the codes set up for the neighbour to keep an eye on my property at specific times during my absence. The missing star has to do with the app falsely suggesting that my fone's location reporting is inaccurate. Beyond that, I am sold on this thing. Wanted to pair it with the Nest Secure starter pack but, hey, Google doesn't seem to think the South African market is important enough to sell that in. Bummer :( UPDATE: 09/03/2023 - The geo-fencing thing works nicely. I don't like having multiple apps for working the same device, and it pleases that the lock yet works well with the Home app, although devoid of access to some of the settings, like assigning passcodes. I do have to reinstall the Nest app everytime I need to review passcodes. I recently have been able to get myself the Nest Secure system and the lock is, indeed, able to disarm the alarm system when I either unlock it with the Home app or use any of the existing passcodes. I get that it doesn't do Auto-Unlocking of any form, but I see this as a security advantage; this makes the system fool-proof to a slightly larger degree as compared to competing units.

I ordered two locks with the intent of installing them on a front door and a basement door to replace existing locks. The YouTube video states that installation should take about 15 - 30 minutes. After two hours of trying to install the first lock and getting an error message about the deadbolt, we suspected it was defective. We hired (and paid) for a locksmith who confirmed that the lock indeed was defective. Good thing we had a second! 1) Took the locksmith more than 30 minutes to install. And he knew what he was doing. 2) The lock was defective and the only option I had with Amazon was to select another product and it couldn't be identical to the product I was returning. Seriously? Google would not stand behind the product and honor the warranty with a replacement product. 3) Took 2.5 hours to program the lock and this included over 2 hours with Google. They couldn't even figure it out. The agent actually told me that the Nest Connect could not be connected to Nest Pro Mesh. Can't make this up. Bottom line, the Nest Connect was also defective. Google Customer Support is terrible. The background noise is very loud and you can barely hear the agent. I've had to contact them several times for assistance and found it was more effective for me to search for solutions on my own. Needless to say, there is no way we are installing the second lock which is now returned; I don't have the appetite or time to go through this again. Based on these experiences, I am reconsidering my commitment to Google and the purchase of future products. I feel that I am being penalized by Google for being an early (2011) adopter of the very first Nest thermostat which we ordered months before it shipped.

The install on this was a bit of a pain. The deadbolt itself was a little longer than the standard lock I was replacing (not disappointed on that, adds security). However, the instructions were very clear about using the supplied receiving plate and to replace any prior plate. I spent 2 hours cutting deeper into the receiving wall, attempting to lock and being frustrated when it wouldn't lock fully. I could manually force the lock, but for some reason the lock didn't think it was 100% aligned with the receiver. Eventually I threw my hands up and replaced the wall-side receiving plate that was originally on the door. WHOA, instantly the lock worked. I compared the two plates and the one I had was barely larger than the Yale plate. Either way, the lock now worked and I've had no issues since. It's been about 2 months since install (installed early Sep '19). I'll update here if I have any issues at a later point in time.

Got this on a black friday sale, so the price was very good. Got it and attempted the install. Had to do some work to our front door, the hole was off, so I ended up having to go get a hole saw drill bit to cue the hole in our door, luckily, I was able to just move the hole over and it is all still covered by the lock. Once installed, I had to do a bit of work to the door so it would shut a little tighter so the bolt would move freely enough for the lock to work. Once that was done, it all connected to my Nest app without issues. The install was the only issue I had, connecting it and operating it has been flawless so far. Our son uses it daily to open the front door with his pin instead of having to go through the garage door. I have the lock set to automatically lock after 1 minute to ensure it is always locked as well. A second thing I have configured is the push alerts from the app on my phone to tell me when the door is unlocked and locked. This is just a safe guard for me to ensure the door gets locked. Lock looks very nice and works perfectly for us so far.

Great lock. Does what is expected of it. Batteries we're used. irregardless and it does fine. It took a little bit for the installation. You have to be smarter than the device. We'll see how long the battery lasts.

Perfect and works with no flaws. Need to chip some wood in the door to fit it correctly. Works with GOOGLE HOME. Product not available in UAE Nest Stores. This is more like an US Version Warranty can be issue

I really like this, and it works well with the Google Home app. I love how I can administer all the users and passwords remotely, and can even look the door when I'm not at home.

Easy to install and it fit in the door pretty well. The nest connect has a few connection issues, took me longer to connect. But after connection with wifi, it was easy to use and easy to create more passwords.

The box was damaged, the manual was torn and looked like it had been wet and dried. The device itself was the wrong colour as per the order and a used item, it had a spot of purple nail polish on the back, multiple scratches and I could see scratches where it had been screwed before. Have sent the item back and awaiting a refund. Had to cancel the installation service and have ordered the device from another company.
