I use it for DC TIG, and the lighter lens (Shade #9) works very well from 50 amps on down, which is perfect for the sheet metal/small machined parts I weld on. Occssionally I will use more than 50 amps, up to 125, which is bright but still perfectly weldable. Durability is the same as any other normal glass lens - I lengthen the life of my lenses by putting a layer or two of scotch tape around the edges, which stops edge cracks from welding. My first lens lasted about 6 months of normal wear, tear, & dropping (I don't use a clear cover lens over it, as I used it strictly for TIG - no spatter). Just bought two more replacements.
