What kind of filter does it use?

How hot does the water get for brewing? thanks!

I tested this right out of the box. The temp right after brew finished was 182 degrees. (with digital thermometer ). Tested second batch 60 minutes after brew completion and it was 177.8 degrees. Brewing water temp.should be 195 - 205 degrees. Definitely different taste than my old Braun coffee maker.

When I select the 1-4 cup brew, it will brew all the water in the reservoir, even if full. Shouldn't you be able to select 1, 2, 3, or 4 cups?

Don't understand your question. If you put 1,2,3 or 4 cups in the reservoir that's what it will brew. If you wish to brew 4 cups why would you fill the reservoir?

I just ordered this unit, but didnt think about water filtration. Does this unit have a charcoal water filter or any water filtration for that matter?

I haven't decided if I'd order this but I use filtered water from fridge.
