Is the camera protected or is there plastic protecting that slot,??

Cases never (at least in my experience) provide any protection for the camera(s) on a cellphone or smartphone. These are protected by very strong glass or clear plastic provided by the manufacturer.

Not too bad, average. For the price I paid, this is a good product.
