My son absolutely loves the 39 Clues books. He is 9 years old and they keep his attention and keep him reading for hours. He has also enjoyed the interactive experience that is provided online and uncovering all of the clues. The books themselves are written by multiple authors, including Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson Series) and Gordon Korman (Bruno & Boots Series). This book is a supplement to the story books, providing additional information about the entire Cahill Family. My son said you may want to read through all of the books first before real digging deep in the Black Book of Buried Secrets as is does provide a lot of information and there may be a spoiler or two. Overall, I would recommend this book and any other 39 Clues books to any youth to young adult reader. I fact, my son has encouraged me to read the books as well and I just start book #1. It is a fun read for adults as well, giving you the ability to easily pick up read a bit and set it down if other tasks start calling.

I've read it in two days and it was very interesting to learn about the history of the different branches and their historical and current members. I never would have thought of Daniel Radcliff to be a Janus! XD It's a good book to get deeper into the Cahills and of course the Vespers even if they are mentioned only on the side. I liked the pictures very much. The "actors" of Dan and Amy, Ian and Nathalie were known but I love the picture of Arthur and Hope. I don't collect the cards so it was the first time for me and I was surprised how much the picture fits my image of them. The look like a loving couple who cares deeply for their children but are also aware of their responsibility for the clues. Only the picture of Grace I don't like. I rather stay to the image in my head because that in the book scares me.^^°

My son (7) LOVES the 39 Clues books. We read a few chapters at bedtime every night and normally fold the page to keep our place for next time. However, he does not want to fold the pages of this book because, "It's special." This book contains all kinds of good background information on each of the characters.
