Linear Algebra and its Applications, 4th Edition

Concepts are hard to follow through written text on the book alone. It is recommended, even in book, that you should watch Sir Gilbert Strang's MIT lectures on linear algebra. You can just watch them in youtube, add free or can scan QR code on book. What book focuses is the understanding of concepts and core elements of matrices. It tells our need. From earlier, it give us easy methods or should I say, Algorithm that computer programs such as MatLab use to operate on matrices. I realised reading this book that there is a lot more about matrices than I thought. Enough about content of book The cover is ok enough but what matters the most is binding and page quality. Fortunately, they are both good for this price range.

Loved this book. Very well useful for linear algebra learning. Having very good cover and pages with lots of examples and exercises.

The book has a lot of information in there, and it's pretty well written, but it is much easier to understand the book and understand his language if you watch his lectures that are available for free on Youtube. It's a great book for learning Linear Algebra as it explains concepts from numerically as well as geometrically. This book however, isn't the easiest book to grasp for newcomers, I personally feel that the Introduction to Linear Algebra by Howard Anton is a better book for someone who just wants to get done with his Linear Algebra course in college with ease, but this book has more information in it and is more challenging. Also, the paper quality of this version of the book isn't the greatest, and the same goes for the print quality, but at this price point I wouldn't expect much better. It's got a lot of questions as well, the solutions to some of which have been provided in the back. You should go for it if you're a math student who's really up for a challenge and wants to learn the topic thoroughly.

It's probably the best book for beginner level linea algebra

I had this book back in college but lost a few years back. It is perfect for beginners as there is an online course that supports this material. This is one of the two books that I recommend to ANYONE of ANY AGE who is interested in learning about basics of linear systems and their applications in technology.

Dr. Strang is amazing when it comes to linear algebra and the book doesn't only explain the methods to solve linear systems but also compare and explain the efficiency of the algorithms. He also used a explained some of MatLab problems solving techniques and how it works. I would definitely recommend it for the beginners but certainly one should study it at any level and it is really good if you follow his lectures on YouTube

I intended it to use for self study and therefore the application part was more important than the theory proofs. This delivers. The topics cover more or less all the basics + brief applications. Prof. Strang know how to bring novices into the topic. Proofs are brief, large number of interesting problems to understand concepts. A great starting book
