Appears to be a Quality Control issue. I have received two products ( first buy and replacement) in which the same parts broke up - being brittle rubber. This is a little loop round the earpod that would keep wires in a fixed position, without this the ear loops are likely to move around, or at least be less of a secure fit. The sound was acceptable but the earphones are useless as gym/ running accessories due to the above problem.
