Cold steel means quality. I have the cold steel recon 1 clip point and the recon 1 tanto serrated. I have 6 cold steel different knies in my collection. And the recon 1 is super strong, I love the serrated part. And the entire blade is sharp out of the box. The way the handle is made it will protect your fingers from getting cut. I like the one hand open with the thumb stud. The lock is outstanding, the lock release is on the top towards the back. Great knife

Very strong yet easily carried well engineered hard use knife.
The cold steel recon 1 with tanto point and partially serrated blade might very well be the ideal knife. It is a strong, well engineered yet easy to carry knife. Tanto geometry has 4" of actual cutting surface and 2 sharp points- the extra strong acute point and the obtuse tanto point, great for opening boxes and hard use. The triad lock is very strong, opening with a satisfying "click." Partially serrated blade cuts cloth, rope and vines very well. The handle is tough, ergonomic, with slight texturing and finger indentations for a secure grip. Pocket clip is strong yet adjustable. Slight, incremental adjustment is recommended if needed. The slight handle texturing is easy on pockets. Strong as it is, the knife is surprisingly very easy to carry. I heartily recommend the recon 1 as an ideal knife, a great value for the $.

My new EDC knife
I had wanted to get a really nice knife for EDC. I'm not too savvy when it comes to knives so I popped into a few forums and noticed Cold Steel was mentioned pretty regularly. I wasn't looking to break the bank on a knife but something >$100 and this one just made it in there. I prefer the tanto blades over the normal blades. I think it looks better and it just seems like a better point to have on a blade (I could be wrong though). The knife is very lightweight which is a huge bonus. The locking mechanism seems really strong so I'm not too worried about the blade coming loose or accidentally unlocking itself. I had some older cheap knives where the blades would get unlocked if I putt pressure on the blade. Not very reliable so this blades locking mechanism seems a much better quality. The blade itself seems really solid and the serrated edges really make this an ideal EDC knife for me. It comes with a L/R pocket clip so you can adjust that if needed. Blade arrived super sharp so it's ready to use out of the box. Overall, really nice knife that's super lightweight and seemingly very well built.

Nice,just not the price
Definitely a mean litte blade. Not 100 dollar mean tho. Id def keep my 25dollar smith a wesson as a tool over it anyday. Same sharpness just as durable. Sw is leaner in your pocket and clip placement is better and easier to access.

very nice knife
The size is great. Very well made. Arrived sharp. S35VN is a top tier stainless steel. Handle ergonomics are superb. Chisel tip blade is what I prefer and the serrations add to utility. Cold Steel sells good to great knives. This knife works for a wide variety of tasks. It is well worth it.

Very Good Build-You Want it Tight!
Very sharp. So sharp and thin of a cut that you don't even know you cut yourself. It just itches. Yes, this is a tight knife and a tight build. Get over it - it Cold Steel. Open the lnife and begin moving the knife blade back and forth. You can loosen the knife's Allen screws, but you will steel, half to wear it in. If you want garbage, buy it. If you want to bond with your knife - then get to it. Give it a name! Very well built! If you want grandpa's bone knife, then please build the little one. If you want something robust. You know what to fo!

$10 Knife
I always carry a Kershaw Tanto Blur. Great knife. I bought this blade thinking it would be similar. It feels cheap. The handle was so sharp I had to grind down the edges. The blade is thin, sharp, but thin. I have other CS knives that are twice the quality and half the price. The lock on the back isn't consistent when unlocking the blade to fold. It breaks at different angles. I might have to take it apart and polish the internals. I'm extremely disappointed in this knife. It has the feel and quality of a $10 knife you would get at a smoke shop. This picture looks strong beefy. It's very very misleading.
