Fun,educational, and simple
Simple, durable, fun,and educational too. I frequently buy these first youngsters who I encounter in life.

Amazingly Cool!
This takes flight and soars much better than the wind-up wooden airplanes. Yes, it's delicate. So handle with care. Best if an adult winds it up and just let the kids run after it to bring it back. Teach the kids how to hold it by it's body and not the wings. Don't play with it close to a house, as my heroic neighbor had to retrieve it off his roof for us.

Poor quality
I had countless hours of fun playing with ornithopters as a child, so I bought this for my son hoping that he would enjoy it just as much. Unfortunately, the quality of this item is severely lacking. The body is made of paper thin plastic, the wings are extremely delicate, and the winding mechanism is fragile. After a couple of successful flights, my son just picked it up by the wing, and the wingtip snapped the fragile plastic leading edge. After trying to tape it together, we managed to get it flying again briefly, although it didn’t fly quite as well after that. After another flight or two, the tiny plastic tab on the winding mechanism broke, and the handle would just spin around in circles after winding it up. Now it’s totally useless. I expected more from this item, and I am really disappointed. Would not recommend.

Good product
It's not a bird, and doesn't fly very long, but on the third attempt I did get it to fly correctly for about 10 seconds, which is their flight time.

Boo. Poorly made. Didn't work.
Right out of the box the bird didn't work. There's a notch that's supposed to make it so you can wind up the rubber band and then release it. The notch was ineffective and the crank hit my finger nail about 25 times, ouch! Only worked as a glider then. I'd buy the larger version. It worked pretty well compared to this one.

Cute but overpriced! Wouldn't recommend.....
This is cute but way overpriced for a cheap piece of plastic. Purchased for our cats. Our large dog is more interested. Sorry, but really can't recommend. It is very fragile for anyone.

The Original "Made in France" Ornithopter is Still Out Here!
Colors are different - but I'd know those contours anywhere! This is THE SAME wind-up flying bird toy that I had as a kid FIFTY years ago! And still just as much fun and kids still love it! It's VERY light, so it doesn't tolerate windy days well. But on a still day, take it out and have a blast!

The kids love this.
I bought the first one in a park in Paris. Brought it home for the nephews who squealed with delight when they saw what it could do. Honestly, the fathers were really into it too. It flies really well albeit for short distances. But be warned. Make sure there's a lot of room with few trees or chances are you will lose it. Our first one is nestled high in an oak tree above the yard. Ha.
