Well made little machine that also works great
Works great. Perfectly matches my white Baratza grinder and not at all a problem to clean. Just wipe it down after every use or once a day. Don't pack in more than 10-11 grams of coffee on the double to make sure the basket can go in and also keep the shower head clean. Do get a soft brush or just put some extra effort in with a bit of paper towels to clean around the seal around the shower head to keep things clean and prevent pressure leaks (I haven't had a problem). 1:2.5 to 1:3 ratio shots are great and don't worry about the baskets being pressurized. They work very well and the construction ensures that there's nothing getting trapped in there and getting moldy. The removable filters pop out effortlessly and, contrary to reviews here, the seals don't smell of rubber. In fact, they may be made of silicone or some other odorless material similar to the new Aeropress plungers (that are great btw if you're an Aeropress user). The frother works well and a trick I use if someone doesn't want hot foam is to drop a few ice cubes into the cold milk before steaming. The cup warmer in top though made of nice brushed steel - is a joke! Another minus is that you need to remember to let hot water out for 2 second from the wand before you stream. And make sure you turn the main knob back to on or off before you switch the water off to prevent an accidental aftershot into your espresso! One last thing - a single grain of coffee is enough to block the hole so make sure you rinse the basket and hold it for a second or more under the faucet. The pump is quite powerful and it does NOT make a "weak espresso" - you just need to know what you're doing ;-) BTW this is the exact same machine as the black, red, and all-steel models which have different model numbers. I had to return an ECP3120 (for a defective water reservoir) which was identical in features and performance otherwise to this ECP3220W.

Perfect Little Machine
I have felt super fancy but also smug about saving money since I purchased this machine. I was a barista for 15 years, so I don't need anything automated. There is nothing you can't do with this machine, and the time it takes to warm up for brewing and frothing is minimal (like 30 seconds minimal). My only complaint is that the frothing wand forces you to froth all of the milk, but I like to control that. So I took the metal cover off of the rubber inner tip and used a tiny strong silicone band (like a rubber band) to hold it in place - this was after many instances fishing the rubber tip out of the milk. Works like a charm and I get exactly the kind of milk/froth ratio I want. This machine is DeLonghi quality at a ridiculously reasonable price. I've had it for 6 months and I use it at least twice a day.

Its a pretty good budget machine!
So here is the deal in a nutshell. This is not a 1000 machine. It doesnt have the quality of a machine with that kind of price. That being said you are not going to get much better at this price point! Its easy to use and as long as you pay attention to its quirks you can overcome a lot of what people say negatively about this machine! With that in mind let me go over a few things and get a little deeper. First, this thing has a pressure assist system that helps when your grind isnt right and you didnt tamp your grounds down quite right. However, that pressure assist system is simply a portafilter cup with a tiny hole poked in the bottom to make the portafilter pressurize more. So check it every once and a while to make sure you are not getting grounds stuck down in there because if you get grounds down in there no coffee will come out! Second, there is no pressure gauge on this so it may seem like its impossible to judge how good you espresso is. There is also a remedy to this! Your pour for 2 oz should be between 25 and 35 seconds from start until the 2 oz cup is measured out so if its out of that range then you can either decrease the size of your grounds, tamp harder or vice versa if you are having the opposite problem. There is a lot of good to this machine if you overlook the quirks and definitely worth not having to spend a massive amount of money on even a home espresso machine!

Makes great cappuccinos and espressos.
These work great if they are not leaking water from the head. If you find your machine leaks water from the head send it back. This one worked like normal and makes great espresso shots and does a great job of steaming and foaming the milk. Even works with Oat milk. Make sure you understand the set-up process before proceeding. Wash your tank thoroughly with soap and water before dashing forward. The instruction book is more detailed about the initial set-up process. It takes a bit of times to get the total hang of it, but you will learn and get better, and you will enjoy a great espresso or cappuccino.

Coffee is not strong
I just got this machine and its kind of worthless, i preferred spending a couple of hundreds more on a good quality machine. The frother does NOT froth the milk, it just doesn't do it. It turns the volume down fast as the intensity should be stronger. I actually have a portable $30 frother and does the job. But then why have the machine that does it all if i cnat use it. I used the machine literally 4 to 6 times and its not produce anymore coffee. There's water and the its hot enough and still nothing. I removed the shot and let the water fall into a cup and the waster was coming down, but as soon as i put in my espresso shot, it doesnt produce any coffee I thought maybe its clogged but didnt find any solution online that can help. At this point I dont even think I can retturn it as i threw the boc away, because this machine is not good.

AWESOME LITTLE MACHINE
This machine was bought to replace my Krups that died and the SOWTECH machine that I returned because it LEAKED from the steamer tube. This machine is AWESOME! I was pleasantly shocked at the professional style coffee the DeLonghi makes vs the other machines I have had. If you love a great cup of coffee, do yourself a big favor and buy this machine. It only costs a little more than the other ones and it is worth it!!!! (it's a little more complicated than the old Krups or the Sowtech but nothing that can't me mastered after a few times making coffee.)

originally a 1 star review now i'll give it 3
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was sent this espresso machine missing its portafilter baskets, so I contacted Delonghi. They said they'd get me the parts, but are out of stock currently. Why sell an espresso machine without all its parts? Furthermore, I asked the company about the size of the portafilter to see if I could get some of my own stuff for it and they didn't give me the requested information and rather told me that I best use the parts assigned. I want to experiment with a bottomless portafilter and one without rubber inserts, but they flat out denied me any information regarding the product dimensions. Delonghi should think twice before denying their customers vital product information. Otherwise the espresso machine seems fine, it froths milk well and seems to work, but I certainly won't be changing my review to 4 stars until I get my missing parts and until Delonghi cooperates in providing me with the information I ask. ****UPDATE: I was finally sent the missing parts a month later and given further information on the product. I'd say it's a 4 star product but having had to have gone through all I went through to get everything is why I've changed my one star review to three stars rather than four

My best friend in the morning!
This is the second DeLonghi espresso machine I've owned. The first lasted less than six months. But the price on this is right and I figured the cost savings from NOT going to Starbucks made it worth trying again. This model is slightly updated from the one I had, and a candy apple red color which makes me happy. I'm very happy with the shots I get in the morning, and the steamer wand on this one is awesome. I get great foam and overall I'm very happy with my morning cup. That said, things I'm doing differently THIS time are: 1. using distilled water vs simple filtered water, and 2. Descaling once a month. I have no idea if either one of those things will help the machine last longer...I hope so. I'll try to remember to update this as time goes by. For now, I give it a solid five stars for ease of use and pure happiness in the morning. It's small, it's efficient, and it gets the job done without a lot of hoopla.

Great basic machines
UPDATE: It's been 4 years and I still love it. Hasn't broken once. Works just as good as it did when I first bought it. I bought it used for almost half the price, but it was in a perfect condition with all the parts. I gave it a thorough clean just in case. I doesn't take up a lot of space which is great for my small apartment. I like the ease of use. One feature that I wish it had is selection for single or double shot with auto shutoff. I has a manual on/off switch which is a bit of a pain. The water basically keeps on flowing unless you turn the switch off. Since I mostly use it for lattes and cappuccinos, I purchased the de'Longhi espresso glasses to have a better idea what one shot looks like. The plastic temper works just fine, but I'm going to upgrade it to the metal one. I've notice that the quality of coffee and the grind play a much bigger role in the taste of coffee then the machine itself. Overall I think it's great little machine for the price point.

Received a defective item - TWICE!
Ordered this based on a recommendation, I see some people have had good experiences but mine was very disappointing. When the first machine arrived, it looked like it had been used before as there were water stains on the steel. When I ran the first cleaning cycle before using it for the first time, there was water leaking from the tank into the drip tray at an alarming rate, as well as from the bottom of the machine all over the counter. Ordered a replacement thinking this was a one-off issue. The replacement not only had water leaking again but this time the steam wand was blocked. I would say purchase these from a dealer or a store near you where you're able to check the quality of the item.
