Great fast all-rounder prime lens
Item came as advertised, and works well with my OMD EM10 Mark III Olympus body. Fast and clear, with great focal length for all-rounded use. I mainly use it for portraits, where I don't have to position too far from the subject. There's also the option of capturing more background if space is limited. Auto-focus on video is pretty fast/good and it gives a nice bokeh too.

There is dust inside the lens
I am purchasing the product directly from Japan because Olympus camera was withdrawn from Korea. I didn't have a trouble until this time, but I wasn't lucky this time. There is dust inside the lens. I feel uncomfortable, but I decided to use it because there was no problem with the optical performance.

OM-3を購入して、標準のズームレンズでは見た目がそんなに好きじゃないので、初の単焦点レンズで購入 カメラに付けたときの見た目は最高 重さもバランスが良くて最高 中古でしたが、傷もあまりなく綺麗でした

What can I say but that this is a wonderful lens. Tack sharp across its field even wide open. Great for macro or regular shooting. I find myself carrying this on my OM-1 a great deal of the time for on the go macro shots. The lens is a little slender but I have adopted a grip where I wrap my left hand around the barrel in a full overhand grip and move the focus with my pinky. Works great. I got an aftermarket lens hood for it off Amazon for 16 bucks which works perfectly. I stay away from the horribly expensive Olympus accessories.

I just had to buy this. With Amazon discounting it and also offering a £70 voucher, it was too much of a bargain to turn down. I had to wait a few weeks for it to arrive but the immense saving of £160+ made that wait worthwhile. (Even used versions of this lens sell for more.) A 1:1 magnification ratio is the gold standard when it comes to macro lenses, which means that the image on the sensor is the same size as in reality. So, what’s it like to use? Attached to my EM5.2, in a word; brilliant. Weighing in at a mere 6.5oz (185g), the first thing you’ll notice is the three position ‘oh-so-handy’ focus limiter switch and distance scale. To save the lens from hunting it’s entire length, you set a specific range outside of which the lens won’t focus, but you can also jump from a close focus distance to a far one and back again in milliseconds. If you’re using the 0.19-0.4m setting, by moving to switch to the 1:1 position (it will spring back to its previous position) you go to the closest focusing distance then it’s easier to actually move the camera itself until you get the focus you want. Or use manual focus alongside the focus peaking option. Not only that, the large ribbed fly-by-wire focus ring is comfortable to use and precise, but to go from infinity to the closest distance does require a lot of turns, hence the limiter. Unusually, the distance scale is vertical instead of the usual horizontal type. Due to its internal focusing mechanism, unlike many other lenses, this one doesn’t extend, so you needn’t worry about scaring those creepy crawlies. That it doesn’t rotate either means you can carry on using that polariser (or any other filter) if and when needed. Having used this for a week or so, I’ve decided that though f11 and f16 are perfectly satisfactory, it’s at its best from f2.8 to f8 with spectacular centre sharpness. It’s both dust proof and splash proof and it doubles as an excellent portrait lens and medium telephoto one too. Now, some may bemoan the absence of an included lens hood, but Olympus (or should it be OMDS now?) doesn’t include them with their non PRO lenses anyway, so it’s not really a deal breaker. + Exceptionally sharp, even wide open at f2.8. No chromatic aberration (that I have seen). Weather sealing. Focus limiter. Renders nice bokeh. Small and light. Excellent as a slightly longer prime lens. - No lens hood.

Five stars. I love it! (except for the price that is) This is a very well made lens. I just love to hold this lens in my hand. It is compact and has a good heft to it - feels reassuringly solid like a small rock in your palm. This is a very fast focusing lens. This is fantastic with the touch to focus and click features of most micro four thirds cameras. This lens with my EM5 makes DSLR seem like last century stuff. This lens has a fast aperture. f/1.8 and micro four thirds sensors easily reaching ISO 1600 without breaking a sweat mean that low light and indoors shooting are no longer an impediment. This lens is sharp enough wide open. Alone by itself the lens is very sharp. In comparison to the very sharp Panasonic 20/1.7 this lens is only a little less sharp. You would notice the difference only if you pixel peep all the time. The fast autofocus more than compensates. I would say this lens is a better buy. This lens has great DOF. The small sensor with the f/1.8 gives just the right DOF. Larger sensors like the full frame cameras have a thinner DOF but that is often a hindrance. I have had photos where one single eye was in focus and the rest of the face had begun to blur. Feels awesome for the first ten portraits and then that thrill wears off. Micro four thirds systems tend to get the full face in focus. I like that. This lens is part of a very compact kit. I feel like carrying my micro four thirds camera and a couple of primes everywhere because I can. A DSLR - I have a full frame and a crop sensor - with its equivalent lenses seems to occupy four times the volume and twice the weight.

I have had this lens for a while now (I pre-ordered it on amazon when it was first announced). It is a great bit of kit, when you open up the box for the first time, compared to other lenses I own for the system this one is superior in nearly ever way. CONSTRUCTION The lens body is all metal, it feels superb. Every movement is solid and precise. A joy to hold. IMAGE The lens takes lovely photos, no doubt. The 17mm F1.8 (34mm equivalent) equates to one of the most popular F.O.V.'s on full frame cameras (35mm) and I really enjoy using this focal length. The large aperture allows for great creative opportunities and strong subject isolation, and the width of the images allows me to fit in any subject I might wish. IN USE On my Olympus PEN E-P5 Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Camera - Black Body Only (16.1MP, Live MOS) 3.0 inch Tiltable Touchscreen LCD the size is perfect. The focusing speed is almost unbelievable, and talking of focusing- the snapshot focus mechanism is superb. Just pull the focus ring towards the camera body and the camera automatically switches to manual focus mode - which this lens is a joy to use in, thanks to its nicely dampened focus ring and film camera lens style distance scale... CONCLUSION I bought one, and I would do it again in a heat beat. I also have the Panasonic 20mm Compact and Lightweight Digital Interchangeable Lens for Lumix G - Black , which I personally feel delivers minutely better images but at the price that it is not as slick in the focusing department, and because of that, I do not enjoy using it the way I do the Olympus 17mm F1.8
