They really work!
We have chickens and live in close proximity to a few hundred horses. I saw a YouTube video from another livestock owner about these Black Balls and how well they work. I am greatly impressed! 98% of the Flys on our property disappeared. The closest ball hung by our chicken run is probably 30 feet from the back door, the Flys left the door area too! I did have to buy a bicycle tire pump but the kit came with three valves to pump the three balls up with. I used clothesline rope to hang one from a tree branch near the run and hung another outside the actual henhouse . After hanging I applied the sticky adhesive. I would suggest wearing latex gloves. I had ordered the adhesive in a spray can as well. I brushed the top half of the ball and sprayed the bottom half. I'd suggest putting something under where the balls are hanging because hot Temps (100+ degrees) will cause some to drip off and it will prevent someone walking into them. I turned a large urn planter upside down under one and put a 5 gallon bucket upside down under the other one. We didn't have a lot of Flys stick to the balls but they definitely left our property. These things work great! I can't reccomend them highly enough.

Don't draw the flies
After a week of set up and use... know this: #1> You need to have a pump prior #2> The product/gunk can and brush are far to small to apply and have gloves its a mess and sticky. #3> The product does not work, no flies caught ? #4> Waste of money

Deer and Horsefly Killer
I have a large backyard where a pool is located along with a swamp in the wood just past my lawn. Deer and Horse flies spawn like armies each year and drive me nuts during parties or just working in the yard. I was Skeptical on this working, the day before my July 4th party in New England, I blew these black balls up, applied the glue and hung them only 2 ft off the ground around my pool and the yard where I place my volleyball court up. Within 24 hours I caught at least 100 of them, made the party so much more fun. I wished I had more and came back on just to do that. Being in the sun constantly the glue does try after sometime and you have to reapply it but I'm happy to do it. I had also bought a 70$ hanging one with a umbrella canopy over it to trap them and threw it away, it did nothing for the problem. I recommend this product!

Kills biting flies
I have an access road for property I manage. There are thousands of biting flies, mostly deer flies with horse flies and green heads mixed in. As I drive down the road the swarm of flies builds and builds following my truck. I hung 4 balls. I stop my car next to each ball and watch the swarm land and get stuck. Drive to the next ball, stop for a minute. Repeat. If I do a few passes with my car, there are virtually no flies following me around and I could get out and do work without being in a massive swarm of biting flies. However, when you have as many flies as I do, the entire ball gets covered quickly. It’s a bit of work wearing gloves to scrape the ball clean and reapply fresh glue.

Works Ok
I have lots of deer and horse flies where I live. The balls are nothing more than a kids play ball with an anchoring point at the top. The adhesive is a pain to put on. I ended up dumping it around the ball and letting it drip to the bottom. The brush is way to small for the area you are trying to cover. I did catch a few deer flies when they buzzing me as I was putting the adhesive on. It works ok. I'm not sure how long the adhesive lasts before i have to try and reapply.

Horse Fly Terminator
We have a pool adjacent to a wooded area and have been tormented by horse flies the last three years. A week ago, I hung one of these out in the sun and it has collected a half dozen horse flies and many smaller deer flies. I highly recommend this product. Applying the ooze is messy so do it with gloves on over newspaper or cardboard. It's so satisfying seeing those beasts stuck to the ball, dead.

Ineffective
I purchased these based on some of the reviews and other sites. They were placed at various height and locations, as recommended, but none of them were successful. They have been a waste of time, money and effort. This has been a bumper season for horse flies and deer flies, and after a month of placement they have caught a whopping 3 deer flies and 1 horse fly (along with a butterfly, a moth and numerous knats). These were placed near and around the paddocks with horses and donkeys, where the flies are prevalent, but nothing. I have killed more horse and deer flies with my hands in one day then these have caught in a month. Packaging: The balls were shipped in bags, but the cans of adhesive were not and leaked all over the inside of the boxes and the contents. Adhesive: Like other reviews, application with the little brush was futile and time consuming. Also, because it went on so thick and clumpy with the brush, a lot of it melted and dripped off in the heat. Fortunately there was still enough on the surface to catch what it could. I also utilized a can of the spray adhesive on one of the balls, which was remained on the ball, but was no more effective then the can stuff. Recommendation: Personally I will not purchase these again. I will purchased other adhesive and apply it to something else as the flies did not perceive these to be animals. I will change their locations in hopes of some improvement, and if so will provide and updated review.

It works!!!
This ABSOLUTELY works to catch those evil, biting, yellow deer flies! In this video, the trap has been hanging for only 4 days! It was also very easy to set up but you will need a basketball hand pump! I live in Florida & have not seen any evidence of the glue dripping off which I was concerned about. I used rubber throwaway gloves to rub a small amount all over the ball. It does not have to be thick to catch them & therefore, no drips! (I recommend hanging the ball in place & then apply the glue last.) It can be rained on & it will not affect the stickiness at all as I catch a large amount after a rain. We used a plastic hook (made for hanging your Christmas lights to your roof) to hang it from the house & it works great!! Buy the trap!!! It works!!!
