I had a health practitioner suggest I increase protein intake and add in some game meats (venison, bison, elk) along with beef. I found Paleo Valley venison and beef sticks as a great solution to add these to my diet without a big bite in my budget. Paleo Valley provides several beef sticks that are all tasty and will appeal to a variety of consumer preferences though my personal favorite is the venison. All their sources are grass fed and finished, pasture raised and finished. You can instantly taste the difference in quality with your first bite. The sticks are firm and moist, nicely flavored and are simple to carry around as a quick snack or extra protein boost. I found I have less interest in sugary or carb-filled snacks by eating a quality protein source. Many other brands I've tried are hard, dry, heavily spiced and don't really taste natural. Not so with Paleo Valley. As a company, I found them to be very health conscious and have other supplements available, along with really useful educational tips for a healthier lifestyle. I think it's important to leave good reviews when I find something that's exceptional quality and Paleo Valley fits that bill.

Ugh, I wish these weren't so pricey, but I know it's because of the high-quality and I really do care about that. I'm willing to pay a bit more of grass-fed and finished meat. And these are the perfect quick snack. They're delicious, they're not hard and impossible to bite/chew like some meat sticks, and they give you clean nutrition. I didn't find them particularly greasy either. The packaging is impossible to open, but I wonder if I got a bad set - all of them are fully sealed at the top where normally there are two pieces so that you can peel the package open. All of mine require scissors to cut open which is frustrating but not the end of the world. Again, not sure if that's standard packaging or just a flaw on the ones I got. In any case, they are great and I have already repurchased!

Unsure if I got a bad batch, ill explain why I gave it a 3. First four I had had the consistency of a banana and just tasted extremely off. It was oily, greasy, and the texture was just not something I ever experienced, and ive had venison/beef sticks before. It was pretty disgusting I brought them to work to ensure they didnt go to waste and kept one The one I had was perfect flavor, texture, non greasy and exactly what I had expected. Checked with the coworkers I shared them with and theirs were fine. It leads me to believe maybe it was a bad batch? If they were all like the first few id say 0 stars, if they were all like the last id say 5

The macros are good and its a decent snack by the numbers alone. The problem is that they have extremely poor process control. I assume its not manufactured in a first world country or an ISO type facility. The product is inconsistent, with textures that range from stale Slim Jim to tender ribeye. That could be simply because its venison, but its extremely inconsistent, regardless. Taste is generally a 8 out of 10, which is excellent for a "meat stick" product. Sometimes the dry ones are a little tough to get down. Also, the packaging is so inconsistent that 7 out of 10 of these require tools to open. It doesnt matter how long your fingernails are or how strong you are, the adhesive holding the packaging together in the vicinity of the "open here" flap is excessive. I used to eat these while driving into work, I cant really do that anymore as the packaging requires a knife to open more often than not. Its not a "portable snack" due to this. Again, the problems are just process control. I cant help but think that the operation that manufactures these is extremely small or offshore. Having said all that, I will continue to buy these, but I just dont eat as many as I used to due to the poor quality control and inconvenience of getting the things open. If the people who make Slim Jim's can figure it out, I dont see why Paleovalley cant.

I think they over all taste good. It was an odd texture so I put them in the fridge to see if they'll firm up a little. I dont like the cost but want a cleaner protien snack. If they do firm up ill order them again if not. They'll be dog treats making them way over priced. Update: The taste was a rich venison deer or elk ish taste. The texture was a bit odd for me. A mix of a slim jim and a Vienna sausage texture. It melted almost , thw only "chew" or "bite" to it was what little texture you got from the casing. Putting them in the fridge was the only saving grace to these! With out that, they would have become dog snacks.
