The best Thunderbolt 5 dock by far
I have had this dock for about three weeks, and it does everything it promises to do. The Thunderbolt 5 ports work exceptionally well. All of the charging ports provide their specified charging power. The audio port is exceptional. It's the first dock audio port that transmits high-quality sound. The 10 GbE Thunderbolt 5 Ethernet port is an exceptional value. The USB ports all perform as expected. The DP 2.1 DisplayPort will support nearly any level of monitor. This dock will easily support three 4k displays via the two downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports, which are DisplayPort 2.1 compatible. The downstream Thunderbolt 5 port will charge a laptop with 140W of power. Unlike any other dock, this one will charge everything you can connect to it at full power. It has two 36W USB-C charging ports. They charge my Samsung S24 Ultra very quickly. This dock has enough power to provide full charging capacity out of every single port even IF you have you are charging an accessory on every single port. There is NO other Thunderbolt dock on the market that will do that. ALL of the Thunderbolt 5 docks I have researched will not charge your computer at 140W if you're charging other accessories (like a phone, an iPad, a portable charging power bank, etc. This is the only dock on the market that doesn't have "dynamic charging." In other words, the more you plug into other docks, the slower everything charges, including your laptop. This dock charges EVERYTHING at full speed, no matter how many items you have plugged into it. The two card readers are super fast. They are so fast that you could use a 1 TB CF card as storage. I haven't had a single problem with this dock. Everything in this dock is state-of-the-art and cutting-edge, and ALL of its features work flawlessly. It's hands down the best dock on the market right now. This actually stunned me when I got the dock and was testing every function. Because it is so expensive, if any major feature had been buggy or failed to perform as advertised I would have returned it. But everything worked amazingly well on the dock. When you consider it includes a 10GbE Thunderbolt 5 ethernet port, which will provide LAN internet speeds of nearly 10 Gbps, it is an exceptional value. A separate Thunderbolt 5 10 GbE adapter would cost $200-$1000. This is the best dock you can buy right now, bar none.

Excellent build quality, blazing fast data transfers.
CalDigit offers unparalleled quality and functionality. Yes this is expensive, but when you look at just the price of a 10G thunderbolt adapter, it becomes apparent that you get a lot of value with what this offers. One cable for dual studio displays, charging, USB devices, fast phone charging, and 10G ethernet. Speed test below is to a server running ZFS2 with 12x 7200 RPM drives over 100 feet of CAT6 cable. I could see this lasting at least two computer upgrades (10-14 years) if thunderbolt and USB C stay around. Very well built.

Unreliable for the Price โ Connectivity Issues on MacBook Pro M5 Max
At first glance, this looks like the perfect product โ well-designed and feature-rich. Unfortunately, real-world use tells a different story. After running it for more than 24 hours, the connection to my MacBook Pro M5 Max drops intermittently for a few seconds. When this happens, the network interface goes down and does not recover on its own โ the only fix is to physically disconnect and reconnect the cable. This is not a minor annoyance; it disrupts work entirely. I contacted support, and they confirmed this is a known driver issue, which means it is not an isolated defect but a systemic problem affecting the product as a whole. That acknowledgment is appreciated, but it does not justify selling a device at this price point while the core functionality remains broken. To make matters worse, the unit runs extremely hot during normal use โ hot enough that you cannot comfortably hold your hand on the body for more than a few seconds. That raises legitimate questions about long-term reliability and safety. Bottom line: Until the driver issue is resolved, this device is significantly overpriced and does not deliver the value it promises. Buyer beware.

Fantastic device. Worth every penny. Very flexible.
Super solid premium build. Looks very nice. Easy to set up on 16โ MacBook Pro M4 Pro. No OS problems, and has a useful configuration app. Easy update to firmware then smooth operation on both 4K external monitors, chargers, mechanical keyboard, ring lights, sound system and multiple external TB5 SSDs. SUPER FAST on Gb home network, with no hiccups thus far. Will buy another for my other laptop. Plug and play.

Works well, heats up a lot, possibly some defective units (can be solved by replacement)
The docking station meets its technical specifications as far as I was able to test - two 5K monitors, an external Jabra speaker, 5-gigabit ethernet internet (getting all 5 gigabits) and constant switching of all this between two MacBooks (it switches well and quickly, I often switch between my work and personal laptop, so I check this every day). A couple of downsides โ it heats up more than it should, and the quality control seems mediocre. You can read more details about the defective units below in my story of hassle with returning one unit, getting another, updating the firmware, coil whine and so on. If youโre interested in the bottom line, overall it works well, but it gets hot. MY STORY OF HASSLE: It gets quite hot โ tolerable. I have a 5Gbit Ethernet network, and it easily delivers all 5 gigabits without any issues, butโฆ occasionally it either squeaks or whistles, not loudly, but just enough to be annoying! Iโll give it another chance โ if this whistling becomes constant, Iโll return it. Update 1: After two weeks of use the noise hasnโt gone away. Now I think itโs coil whine. I lowered my rating from 4 to 3. Such a device is impossible to use with that noise. I only have two monitors and a speaker connected. What kind of super-duper powerful device is it if it starts squealing and whining with just two monitors and one speaker connected? I tried disconnecting the Ethernet, the speaker, and another monitor. Even with only one monitor it still squeals. So I assume it squeals regardless of how many devices are connected. Itโs infuriating. Iโm returning it and buying another. I still havenโt given up hope that itโs just a defective unit. I like the idea of the dock station with a 10-gigabit Ethernet port, Thunderbolt 5, and so many other ports. Iโll give it another chance. If the other (new) unit is just as noisy, Iโll return it too and stick with my CalDigit TS4 Pro, which didnโt make the slightest noise with the same connected devices. Its only drawback is the 2.5-gigabit Ethernet. Iโll wait for other updatesโmaybe someone else will release a good device with a 10-gigabit Ethernet port. Iโm not willing to put up with this noise. Update 2: Updated the firmware to the latest version 61.1, coil whine is the same, very noticeable and annoying. A new bug appearedโwhen switching between two MacBooks, the dock just froze, the power LED started blinking and nothing connects, I had to restart the dock (unplugged and plugged the power back in). This never happened with the TS4 Pro, and this is exactly how I use the dockโI have two MacBooks, work and personal, and I connect them to the dock one after the other. This bug completely makes the TS5 Plus unusable for me. Waiting for a new unit, hopefully this is just a defective dock. Minus one star. Update 3: Got a new unit, connected it, immediately updated the firmware to the latest version 61.1, no noise. Absolutely no noise. Even in absolute silence, in the middle of the night, zero noise. If I press my ear right against the dockโs body, I can hear a barely perceptible sound. I donโt know if it will get worse in the future, but after 1 month of using the dock, I havenโt heard any noise detectable by the human ear without pressing the ear to the dock. So, from the noise perspective, itโs absolutely what I expect from it. The freezing during switching between laptops has completely disappeared. I switch between two MacBooks, work and personal, and the switching is smooth, just like with the CalDigit TS4 Pro. It heats up a lot! Thatโs the only factor that bothers me quite a bit. Because the heating isnโt just warm, itโs even a bit hot, like a good radiator in the winter, but we donโt have winter in Florida, this radiator wonโt help me. Despite this heating, Iโm updating my review to 4 stars. -1 star for heating and poor quality assurance/control, since I had to go through all this hassle. And Iโm keeping this dock for myself.

Best hub I've used, but I hate that I need it
I've been a Mac user forever, and someone who is happy to invest in my desk setup. But unlike most desk setup enthusiasts, I'm more of a minimalist. If it doesn't contribute to a beautiful, minimal aesthetic or have an essential function, I avoid in favor of "free space". So while I've always been an enjoyer of these CalDigit hubs from afar, there has never had a practical reason to justify one. I recently got the new MBP with M5 Pro and a Studio Display XDR. I learned that Macs cut power to peripherals when they sleep, and this is not a setting you can modify. For 90% of peripherals, this is fine. For my keyboard, it means the settings reset and my nice soft/warm backlight reverts to a pulsating RGB light show. The power also seems to intermittently come and go while the computer is asleep, because when I come back the monitor is stuck in an endless loop of waking/sleeping because every key on the keyboard is sending signals on repeat. Given how expensive the apple display is, this freaks me out a little. So the work around is running my peripherals through a powered hub, so here we are. I'm a little bitter about spending $400 for something that SHOULD be fixable with a simple setting adjustment. BUT, it instantly grew on me. The build is nicer than I expected in person. I also just recently upgraded my ISP/internet speed, and plan to run an ethernet cable (vs Wifi), so this helps with that too. A few gripes: The color is closer to the old "space grey" from M1-M2 macs. Would be nice if this matched the "silver" color of the TB5 M5 macs, since it's clearly made for people with these machines. And the cable is 1m, which limits how far it can be from my macbookโso yes, they will be nearby. A 2m long cable would make it so I can move my macbook off my desk and hidden on the shelf next to it, which would be nice since this hub eliminates the need to access it for any reason while sitting. CalDigit sells a 2m cable that is, unfortunately, ridiculously expensive. What I like: For one, unlike multiple other hubs I've tried in the past... it just works. The build is top tier. The bandwidth of every port is as advertised. The lighter color and smaller size (versus the PLUS model) are nicer for me. Get this one unless you have internet faster than 2.5Gbps.

The Best TB5 Dock
The best out there. It charges my M5 Pro Macbook Pro, my M1 iPad, and my iPhone 17 Pro Max very fast. Thunderbolt ports and zipping fast. So many ports! DP runs my 4k gaming display at native 144 hz. Nice build quality. No noise. Future proof. Worth the price. highly recommend.

Frequent flakey power issues (Figured it out)
UPDATE: Not to be deterred, I have spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out the power issues. I did three things, and one of them fixed it (I think it was the third, but it could have been the combination of all three). 1. Moved my Elgato Stream Deck XL (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RL8H55Z) off the CalDigit and set it up using the Network dock (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FLG4TV4G). I had long suspected it was the Elgato, but that didn't seem to do the trick. 2. Moved my secondary DP monitor down to 144Mhz from 240Mhz - I have two of the same monitors attached, one on DP, and one on HDMI over TB5 (https://www.amazon.com/LG-45GX900A-B-Ultragear-DisplayHDR-DisplayPort/dp/B0FDC38XGQ/). I am still not sure this did it, but it seemed to cause fewer issues with power surges. 3. I moved the HDMI monitor onto a cable matters TB5 to HDMI adapter, and bumped that monitor from 60hz to 144hz (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCN798Y1). <- This, this is the thing I think did it. I'm not sure why. It's been over a week, and I haven't had a power surge issue, which used to happen multiple times a day when the machine was left to go idle. See below for my initial problem: Sadly, I cannot recommend this product in its current state. I have both the TS3, TS4, and this TS5. This TS5 keeps disconnecting my USB devices due to "USB Surge," and I have to unplug and reset the CalDigit to reconnect the devices. The older CalDigit devices didn't have the same issue, and I almost seem to recall that this device didn't have the issue until I upgraded to their latest firmware. When I talked to support, they said it's a known issue with certain cameras and monitors, even affecting their own employees, but it also happens with my Stream Deck and sometimes even my external keyboard. They stated a new firmware might come out in the future to fix the issue, and even at one point hinted at providing a custom firmware they had that might stop it from happening, but I didn't pay 500$+ for a docking station because I wanted to tinker with it, to get it to work. :| Giving two stars because I have always loved their products, and their customer service was very courteous, but I cannot give it any more because I have to power-cycle the device multiple times a day to get some of my USB devices to work. I'm now searching for ways to supplement the power distribution for the various devices I have connected - if I can find another docking station that claims to do what the CalDigit claims (yet doesn't), I'd drop the CalDigit and move on. To say the least, I'm really disappointed. :|

Easy plug and play
Very compact, sleek stackable design, plenty of Thunderbolt plugs, powers PC or MAC laptops that require more than 100W. Stays cool with the heat grooves built into the casing.

Love it
Works with M4 Max as expected. the packedge does not give you premium feeling, however when you unpack the device has solid alu casing and all ports works as expected. i love that on front panel there is only usb-c, without usb-a.

Really high-quality, assuming you know what you're getting
Firstly: I got this from Amazon because it's where stock was available, but it doesn't seem like price is actually different from other vendors at the moment. Amazon just front-loads the import fees and duties so you're not caught off-guard when the package arrives at your door. That said, this unit will eventually be natively available in Canada, without these fees. So unless you're impatient like me, I'd recommend waiting for that to happen before buying (and any kinks with the firmware should be ironed out by then). PROS The high price, in my opinion, is very justified. I've used the CalDigit TS3+ before this, but had to abandon it after upgrading to a 4k monitor. The TS5+ is now my favourite piece of tech on my desk, if just because it simplifies so much of my setup and workflow. I have my Macbook Pro M4, my work PC, and my Windows Desktop PC all plugged into my dock via thunderbolt cables, along with common accessories like my keyboard, mouse, mic, and audio. My Macbook and work PC (a Lenovo P14S Gen 2) work basically out of the box, as expected. My PC took some fiddling, and I was worried it would be incompatible; it urns out the motherboard uses USB-C Gen3.2 40gbps, not Thunderbolt 5, which was my mistake. But thankfully the PC does still connect, after I established a connection directly to the monitor, and then swapped that connection to the dock using a TB4 cable. The dock is super high-quality as well. It uses a pair of USB controllers instead of just one, so it doubles the bandwidth between devices if you know which ports to use. It means I can keep my devices charged very efficiently, I have absurd read/write speeds to and form hard drives, and I face virtually no lag or artifacts on my display. I can have all of my devices connected to my PC via a single cable (not so much my desktop, but that's more by virtue of wanting a consistent ethernet connection), and swap between them just by swapping cables. I did encounter a bug where my display would disconnect occasionally, at first, but a firmware update fixed this. CONS In my week of practical use, I haven't personally encountered any issues that really stuck. I did have issues connecting my Windows Desktop PC at first, but I think that was just because I needed to connect it straight to my monitor first, establish the connection path, and then connect it back to the CalDigit dock. I also had issues with connecting it again after I swapped to a TB4 wire instead of a USB-C 3.2 wire, so I think the specific wire you use is also important to the data flow. I also had a brief issue where the dock would just... reset the connection between itself and the Windows Desktop. So I'd see a black screen and 'no signal on displayport' for upwards of 10 seconds before the screen would go black again and I'd have my video back. Turns out that the Windows Desktop doesn't automatically update the firmware, so I needed to do that really quickly first. After that, I've had no connection issues whatsoever, but I do wish that process had been smoother. I've seen quite a few people on Reddit having issues, but I feel like many of those come down to being more niche use-cases, or people who just didn't understand the hardware properly. Some of them are genuine, and CalDigit has generally been great with their support. I had no doubt that they would be willing to help me if I asked them, but you need to be willing/knowledgeable enough to troubleshoot in very logical depth. There's a lot that can cause issues in a high-bandwidth device like this, from firmware on the dock, to some software configuration on the computer itself, to just using the wrong wire despite thinking you had the right one (like I did). But again: CalDigit has their customer support for a reason. Be willing to use it, don't expect everything to magically work. This is a power-user's dream and a casual user's nightmare. But I guess the biggest con is whether or not you need it. The TB4 still exists, and is still excellent. Even if you're trying to future proof your dock, you need to ask yourself if the price increase is worth it. If you plan to drive multiple laptops or compatible desktops to use multiple 4k monitors (or even a single high-refresh-rate 4k monitor, potentially using HDR if you want) then I think this is about the best there is, and it will remain that way for quite a while. But if you don't have 4k monitors, and need something faster and with more mature firmware, get the TB4. You'll save some money.
