Water is heated by passing current directly through water in between rods. With power on, any water spilling or draining will cause severe electric shock. With mineral / RO water, less current only pass and hence less heating and poor steaming came for me. With tap water based on salt content very fast heating and severe steaming and heavy power consumption occured in my case. For me it took more than 1500 watts causing 6amps MCB mains tripping.
