I’ve been using the Alaska Fish Fertilizer (5-1-1) for a couple of months now, and it’s become a staple in my gardening routine. If you're looking for an organic, OMRI-listed fertilizer that gives noticeable results without synthetic chemicals, this is an excellent choice. I use it primarily on vegetables, herbs, and a few fruiting plants like tomatoes and peppers. After the first few applications, I noticed stronger stems, more vibrant leaf color, and faster overall growth. My tomato plants, in particular, responded extremely well—they went from a slow crawl to producing blossoms within a week or two of feeding. It’s also done wonders for basil, cucumbers, and even some of my flower beds. Application is straightforward—just mix with water according to the instructions. The only caveat, as others have mentioned, is the fishy odor. It’s not overpowering if you dilute it properly and apply it during cooler parts of the day, but don’t expect it to smell like roses. Fortunately, the smell dissipates quickly and hasn’t attracted pests or caused any lingering issues in my garden. The 115 oz bottle is a good value for the size—especially if you have a larger garden or plan to fertilize multiple times during the growing season. I like that it’s safe to use around pets and kids once it’s watered in. Overall, this is a high-performing, trustworthy product that delivers what it promises. Just hold your nose and enjoy the results!

For a high-leverage approach to organic gardening, the Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1 is an excellent choice. It provides a specialized, nitrogen-rich boost that is particularly effective for the vegetative growth phase of your vegetables and the leafy development of indoor plants. Technical Performance Analysis Nutrient Profile: The 5-1-1 NPK ratio is heavily weighted toward nitrogen. This provides the "high-torque" energy needed for lush, green foliage and rapid stem development, making it a professional-grade supplement for early-season growth. OMRI Listed: Being OMRI listed ensures the product meets strict organic standards. For a user focused on high-quality food production, this provides a verified, chemical-free path to soil health. Cold-Processing: Unlike heat-processed emulsions, this formula uses a cold-press process that preserves the natural proteins and vitamins found in fish, ensuring the micronutrients remain bioavailable for the plant. Soil Microbes: In addition to feeding the plant, the organic matter acts as a fuel source for beneficial soil microorganisms, improving long-term soil structure and nutrient cycling efficiency. Ease of Use and Value for Money Efficiency: The liquid concentrate is designed for rapid integration. It can be applied via a watering can or a hose-end sprayer, allowing you to fertilize a large garden footprint in minutes. Value: This 115 oz container is a high-volume format that offers a significantly lower cost per application compared to smaller bottles. One gallon of concentrate produces dozens of gallons of ready-to-use feed. User Experience: While fish fertilizers are known for their scent, this deodorized formula dissipates quickly once watered into the soil, making it more manageable for those who value a clean workspace. Pros Organic OMRI certification for safe vegetable gardening. Rich in nitrogen for aggressive green growth. Deodorized formula reduces typical organic fertilizer odors. Cons Lower phosphorus and potassium levels mean you may need a supplement like Jack's Classic during the flowering or fruiting stage.

Alaska fish fertilizer is one of the best fertilizers you can buy. Glad to find this on their spring sale because it is becoming insanely expensive at retail stores. Absolutely love this product in my veggie garden. Cant say enough good things about it. It does stink to high heaven though so just be aware it will draw in flys, but its so worth it!

This is a good value for a large jug. This January my house plants were looking a bit sad. So I ordered this fish fertilizer, gave it a dilution, and man did my plants perk up. I live on the 43rd parallel, so didn't think houseplants would need to be fed in January. Well, I guess they are considered tropical, so they definitely needed some nutrients. This is a universal fertilizer that I use outside on my perennials and my roses. They love it. I combine it with some sea salt, and throughout the summer this fertilizer makes everything look great. It is very smelly, so you will definitely need to take a shower after you administer this to multiple plants! And after one day of using this indoors, you will smell it. But eventually it absorbs into the soil and the odor disappears. So I wouldn't be using it the day before you have company, hee hee. And, be wary that some pets might want to put their nose in your house plants after you use this. My dogs like to dig around my plants when I use it outside in the spring. So on days I fertilize, dogs are not with me. But this stuff works! thank you Amazon for making this available.

I have used this for several years on my ferns. My ferns are massive and very healthy, they love this stuff. The smell is awful but since I use on outdoor plants, it goes away in a couple of days.
