Frankly, unglazed terra cotta kitchen floor tiles work equally well for a fraction of the price; you'll need either 4 or 9 depending on the size of your oven and pizzas to form a square. They also do a great job beneath pans used for roasting chicken and small turkeys. Get to know retained heat! **Q: Can a frozen pizza be placed on the preheated stone?** A: It is best not to place a frozen pizza on a fully preheated stone as the temperature difference can cause cracking issues with the stone. **Q: Is this made of cordierite?** A: I like the stone and use it with the perforated pan. It helps to stabilize the oven temp and develop a firm crust. The stone is about 3/8" and porous. In fact, I hate the term “toaster oven”, because it is so MUCH more! It’s a Countertop Oven! It toasts, it bakes, it broils and makes a good pizza besides keeping food warm. Those times I don’t want to fire up the big stove oven, I use the Breville (which is a lot). And this Pizza Stone is custom made just for this unit. It’s rather on the pricey side, but it’s an exact fit and does the job perfectly. It’s definitely worth the price.
