why is this peeling my items with serration, not smooth? Bumpy peeling, not smooth. Help!

how do you clean this without getting hurt?

When your done with it just rinse it off & if there is food stuck in it use a toothbrush to loosen the food & rinse again (I keep a baby toothbrush with my scrubbies for times like this) ... let air dry -
