desertcart.co.jp: How to draw and think like a true artist: A 30-day Drawing Guide - From the Fundamentals to Step-by-Step Instructions with Detailed Illustrations and Comprehensive Explanations : Martin, Warren: Foreign Language Books Review: Review: I have a shelf full of drawing books, and many say they are for beginnersโthis book actually is. It truly offers step-by-step instructions with plenty of examples and explanations for learning how to create real-to-life drawings. One feature I like most is the focus on basic techniques such as shading, constructing basic shapes, and creating 3D shapes. All books discuss these key principles, but How to Draw and Think Like a True Artist gives extensive examples and practice exercises that are lacking in every other beginner drawing book I own. The 30-day format is a good way of organizing the material to be learned, but it improves on other books by making the drawing examples progressively more difficultโgoing from simple shapes to portraits. Here again, How to Draw and Think Like a True Artist is a major improvement over other beginner books I own because the how-to examples extend over multiple pages with detailed steps, not just a few skeleton sketches and then the final polished product. The author has put a lot of thought into creating the examples and explaining the techniques used for creating the final realistic drawing. Out of the 29 drawing books Iโve bought, these are the books I have found to be most helpful so far: For basic instruction 1. How to Draw and Think Like a True Artistโ Gives a daily routine that goes from simple to complex. This has been the best book to get me drawing daily and making steady progress. I spend more than one day on each lesson, though. For practice 1. Draw Like an Artist: 100 Flowers and Plants โhas plenty of practice drawings to try. 2. The Artistโs Complete Book of Drawing Projects, Step-by-Stepโsteps are not nearly as detailed as they are in How to Draw and Think Like a True Artist, but the projects are decent. The projects in this book are best attempted after finishing the 30 days of How to Draw and Think Like a True Artist.

My son just graduated from Chico State with a BA in art. He wanted something to continue working on his skills. He said the book is great for that. I was afraid it would be too basic for him. He says it is great!

This is exactly what I was looking for. i wanted to take up sketching which I have not done in 50 years! It starts with the basics of tools and perspective then works through examples for you to do using the techniques it teaches. The book is a good size paperback with areas to practice the drawings and techniques. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to learn the basics and build their drawing skills.

This book will teach you how to draw if not even draw better if you already know how. It goes from the very basic from techniques how to handle lines to drawing basic shapes such as apples, coffee cups, and animals, and face shapes. I would defiantly recommend this book, as it has the material in it to draw exercises and you can free-style like I do and draw directly on an ipad/drawing tablet/mouse and transfer the images from those devices onto the machine of your choice not literally, but sight-seeing wise this can be done. 4 out of 5 stars
