How About a Sturdy Reliable Watch?
I bought the Vivoactive 3 around three days ago. This is a great watch. I paid a little over 160 dollars / w tax included. Let me just say it is a tremendous buy & well worth the money. The battery life is great. I'm at 47% as of right now. And that's with the GPS running, plus Bluetooth on. This watch is a very accurate piece. Keeps time we'll. You can set this watch up for swimming, walking, running, golf, and areobics. It's excellent on keeping messages & viewing notifications. It uses the Garmin, and Garmin Connect apps. This watch pairs with your phone like a charm. The Vivoactive 3also has Garmin Pay. Which is handy for those times that you may have left your smartphone at the house or somewhere in your car. This has sleep tracking, calories in take. Measures your heartbeat & blood pressure. In the Garmin app you may set it up for physical fit challenges and programs. Right now it's giving me two messages. More tips on how to use the watch. And it just told me to get up & move. And this time piece is very trendy, good looking. Plus it's sturdy but real comfy to wear. This is a good buy.

Love this watch. Great price is a bonus.
Bottom Line Up Front: I love this watch. Pros: - color LCD screen - lots of ability to personalize - app gives you lots of data - extended warranty - Apps are variable and easily changed - you can edit your watch faces - lots of GPS options - lots of sports options - the price is right Cons - no ECG (this is on the new version) - no on board music capability (also on the new version) I'm not a super gym rat. My job requires that I maintain reasonable physical fitness, but nothing extreme. So I don't care if the watch can count pullups or situps. I do care that it can track bike, run and swim activities accurately (pool, not open ocean) and work as a reasonable activity and sleep tracker. This watch meets my needs and more. There are far more activities than I need, but that's kinda cool. I will give a better review once I have used it for a while.

Not perfect but great
This watch works very well for its intended purpose. Its nota multi thousand dollar piece of medical monitoring equipment. The heart rate function is not 100 percent accurate, I believe it depends on many variables, how tight or loose the strap is, the angle of your wrist etc. but it gives you a ball park idea and that's as good as it gets. There is an optional chest strap with more accuracy available. the Gps is very accurate and locks in quickly to the satellites. The user interface works good after you learn how to use it, there are lots of menus and it takes a bit to figure out how its all laid out. There is a lock feature that you must use when swimming or showering or the water messes with all your settings, the lock feature could be easier to activate....possibly by providing one more physical button just for locking and unlocking. there are plenty of activity apps provided and you can make a custom one in Garmin Connect if you desire. there are a lot of features that may be useful to some but not others, these can be disabled if not wanted. the watch connects easily with my Android phone and the music controls are very handy. The find your phone feature works great when the grand kids toss the phone under the couch or it slides between the cushions on the couch...love it! Garmin Connect is great lots of graphs and useful information is logged on your activities, and the GPS provides an actual Google map of your run, walk, cycle route or Kayak path. The sleep function has its limitations but provides a general idea of what goes on at night. All in all a very high tech watch that works pretty darn good and provides a good deal of information and fitness motivation.....good job Garmin!

Fantastic for MTB, Walks, and Swimming
Battery life really depends on the face you want on your watch. If you go with a standard, it’ll last 24/7 for about 5 days for me based on moderately active: swim, walks, and mountain biking. If you elect the face that has widgets such as BPM, a second hand, date, battery, etc. (there’s apps for that on connect IQ) it will reduce your battery life to about 2-3 days 24/7. I wear this while I sleep so keep in mind this is for 72 hours. The GPS is spot on in my opinion and research. I google map, Strava, and my partner has a fit bit, and across the board her fitbit is off. Strava is also a bit off but very close (0.05-0.01 miles) and google and garmin are practically exact. I can’t say the BPM is accurate. It feels off to me, as sometimes i’m 120BPM resting and 2 minutes later i’m at 40BPM. This could be multiple things: watch being loose, widget app being off, etc. I truly think it’s user error for me as I don’t wear the watch tight as I break out in eczema with the silicone wrist band. My Blood pressure is 115/73, im 195lbs, 28 years old, male, and in relatively good shape (10 minute mile jogs). I have no underlying issues and the doc says i’m physically fit. So take my review with this information in mind. This information is extremely relevant to this product. You don’t blame a doctors heart monitor when you visit and this is the same tech, so keep that in mind. i’ve wore this in the ocean while snorkeling with no issues. It works fine in the shower but tends to randomly go through setting depending on how the water hits the face. It works great for weight lifting HOWEVER, I have to consistently manually enter weight and reps as the tech just isn’t there yet. Id say it’s right about 50% of the time. I edit all the info on my phone app. I also use those with an app called Lose It! which is designed to help one lose weight, get the right amount of macronutrients, etc. I’ve lost 25lbs in 2 months through the combination of these two products. The phone I use is an Iphone X (smaller one) so this review might not help the Android user. The product for 150$ is fantastic. Id highly recommend this to anyone willing to be more health conscientious.

Love Smart Watch
This Smart Watch was easy to setup. The battery and value of it was very comfortable. The screen and the brightness was great especially for someone with vision. The features that is connected to the watch is amazing and you can customize it to your lighten.

Nice watch but short battery life
I love everything about the watch except the battery life is awful. It'd be a 5 star if it lasted a couple more days on a charge. Also drains super fast when using certain features.

Garmin Vivoactive 3 1,2 Watch is a Winner So Far
There are several "smart" functions that I haven't used yet, such as swimming laps, GPS mode, Garmin Pay, etc., so I'll reserve the right to update my evaluation of those functions at a later time (which is why I only gave this a 4-star rating). Right now, I primarily use it for daily activities that are transferred to the phone app, such as # of Steps, Sleep Cycles, Heart Rate Monitoring, Calories Burned and manual entry of workout sessions. This has been very useful in helping me pay closer attention to my daily routines. Since I don't use some of the more energy-intensive smart features, I only have to recharge the watch every 6-7 days. It charges very quickly. The one thing I haven't gotten an answer to yet, is whether or not I can use my cell phone's wall plug to charge the watch. Garmin states that the chargers for most name brand phones (mine is an LG ThinQ G7) should be compatible. However, LG was unable to tell me if the charger that came with my phone is UL rated or not. So, I've been reluctant to try it. I see this as a potential problem if I'm going to be away from home for several days and don't have access to a computer's USB port for charging. If anyone has some insight into this issue, I'd love to hear from you. Overall, I'm very pleased with the watch so far. The band is a soft, light weight, pliable rubber that's extremely comfortable. Changing the phone's settings is relatively easy to do. And, I didn't even have to change the time when we went to Daily Savings Time recently. So far, this watch is a definite winner for me. I would absolutely buy it again. And, I haven't worn any of my other watches since I got this one. I suspect the others are beginning to feel a little "neglected". Sorry about that, guys.

Poor design, better buy extra charging cables
You expect more from a fitness device! Garmin tout themselves on high quality but this watch is afflicted by the same issues that every closed in system has. It's hard to export data to the likes of Google Fit etc,. I had to pay $5 for an app that would do that task and it has trouble getting the data requiring opening of the Garmin app then opening of that 3rd party app followed by a delay for the data to finally appear. Build quality of the device is okay but you really need to buy multiple charging leads, the connector design is awful yet somehow Garmin just stick to connector that become so loose that you have to turn the phone in to a contortist to get a charge. Today after 6 hours I got 6% of charge into the phone and I called that a success. Battery life is a joke, if you do zero activity you may get three days of use by sitting dead still in a chair dreaming of exercise otherwise you can expect as low as 6 hour battery life. The auto exercise detecting will sometimes ignore exercise but then detect a 30 mile drive as being a run with amazing lap times. It will think your sleeping while it's on charge resulting in huge deep sleep claims making that data worthless. Display quality is mediocre at best and yes the strap came apart during exercise making a new routine called, Find the missing strap piece which landed 16 ft from where it came off. I've seen better quality and better integration in similarly priced Android wear devices that work seamlessly with an Android and have some compatibility with auto exporting to Apple health. You expect more from Garmin yet they regularly prove that if you like a closed ecosystem then they are as good at that as Apple are with theirs.

Simplemente me encantan

I'd say it is a sportswatch rather than "smartwatch"
It is a relatively old product but I have started using it only recently. So far, I'm happy with the watch. I was looking for something that can be used to track my activities (running, biking, etc). It works very well for this. Hiking, kayaking, etc -- tracks well too. (I've read some people were complaining about pulse monitor's reliability when biking, I did not have any issues so far.) I can't comment on vivoactive 3's performance in winter sports (ski, snowboard) as I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Hopefully, there won't be disappointments either. I like the fact that you can change the face of the sports monitoring apps so that it displays the information you are interested in in the way you like it. Various watch faces, etc -- also very nice. I like simple, clean interfaces but sometimes a busy one with lots of data is a good thing too. GPS works very well in my experience: starts quickly and tracks accurately. The altitude measurements are not as good but I do care too much about these. I was concerned about the wrist heartbeat monitor (the other watch I had was totally unreliable). I'm happy to report that this one is working fine. I've compared its measurements with my other monitors (chest strap, arm strap) -- there are occasionally differences in readings but very moderate, I definitely can live with that. The functions of a smartwatch are there too but I do not really use them so I won't comment. The app (smartphone or web browser) that support the watch is great! There are some things that I'd change (make the menus configurable so that I would not see the stuff I do not care about) but otherwise -- very informative. It would be nice to see more statistical analysis/trends but even without them -- lots of good stuff. The part that I do not find quite relaiable is sleep tracking. I do not think it is as accurate as the other features. Can't prove it but just does not seem to be quite right. Battery performance is good. Not as high as advertised but... we all know that marketing statements are likely to be exaggerating. To recap: very good wearable device for your workouts. Not the most recent one but if you buy it now, you'd get a lot of functionality at noticeably lowered price.

Great all round smartwatch and tracker
Received my watch yesterday lunchtime to use in UK in conjunction with my Sony Xperia Xz2. Surprised how easy and quick it was to set up. Comes with over 50% battery. Turn on, open garmin Connect app on your phone and it syncs via Bluetooth immediately. Took me less than 20mins to set up everything as I wanted even including changing watch face. Preloaded apps OK and cover various activities and you can customise easily. I don't require half of the tracking apps so have removed from watch / quick menu to make access to relevant apps quicker. Hr very accurate as is the sleep pattern. Steps counter is also accurate although can have extra steps added to tracking pending what activity / movement you make nonetheless its still one of the most accurate and best tracking devices I've used. Notifications for calls, texts and WhatsApp come through OK BUT just make sure you have set them up on both your phone, in the garmin connect app and on the watch itself as they don't automatically set up and sync! Also you may need to adjust phone/watch settings to be able to get notifications all the time as default is set to certain times / activities. Value measurements are defaulted to US non UK standards / metric but they are simple to change either on the watch or via Connect app i.e temp in Fahrenheit not Celsius, kilometres instead of miles etc. Synching is easy via app and iqconnect store which has a number of additional apps, widgets and watch faces so you can customise your watch. These can be downloaded in app and are downloaded to watch when it syncs. The connect app also allows you to see breakdown of daily stats and is easy to use and interpret the data. Overall the Vívoactive 3 is perfect watch for fitness tracking and to receive notifications on the move without having to muck around with your phone. The design and lack of full smartwatch capabilities such as replying to notifications, answering calls on the watch and having speaker to talk or play music to some may seem uninspiring but at the end of the day it's foremost a fitness tracker with perks of a normal smartwatch which for me is ideal. The watch is comfortable and doesn't irritate skin like previous watches I've had. It is well sized, the screen is clear and you can adjust brightness to suit. You can also turn off setting which causes watch to light up on movement which can be annoying and battery drain. The straps seem sturdy enough and comfortable on the wrist. I had to charge battery last night as went down to 35% from 58% when started but this is because I was mucking around with the watch loads as only just received. From other reviews expect battery life to be at or very near to what Garmin states and improve once used more. Will update after few months with any changes
