This is a very poor quality camera. You would do much better by shopping around. This camera is always in black and white you have to write a computer program to set the timestamp. I do not recommend this camera to anybody in my opinion it was a wasted $40 **Q: does it come with the sd card** A: No card, no batteries **Q: Can I take the SD card out of the trail camera and stick it in my tablet and view the pictures.** A: yes **Q: any thoughts on battery life?** A: Didnt use it long enough. Didnt realize it was micro chip, and would only do pictures and then video. No options to just do picture. Setting it up is pretty straightforward, despite the instruction manual that comes with it sucks. You can tell that the product likely came from China or somewhere foreign as it seems whoever wrote the manual, English isn't their first language. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The only thing I am not liking is that the instructions don't tell you things like which way the camera should be positioned (batteries on the bottom when stood up) and it doesn't tell you how to set the time and date stamp. Other than that, the pictures are surprisingly clear, color is just a tiny bit off (green's appear kinda purple-ish). Even the night vision shots aren't bad, same with the video clips it takes. Overall, I'm glad I got this camera and didn't spend more on one, for what I want to use it for!
