I don't have fiber to the modem. We have fiber to the house and then it is Coaxial cable into the house. It works great for me. I don't see why it shouldn't work. I get up to 350 mbps. That is the speed of my Spectrum connection. The Deco X60 has solved many streaming problems with my partner trying to watch streaming services on her iPad.

What tipe of wire used cat 5 or cat 6 ?

From the modem to the router it's a Cat 5e, you can use anything higher than a 5e, but it has to be at least a 5e which is what routers & modems come with standard. The only reason you would need to go above 5e is if there is interference from electrical, radio, microwave, 4G LTE or the distance.
