Installed today into a “hard to install” area - very tight fit. I used a jubilee clip to hold it tight while sliding into the pipe. Easy and once released it sat snug in the pipe Replacing a plastic faced one that was gnawed by rodents - let’s hope they dislike the metal and serrated edges on this one

I’ll keep this simple: we had an unwelcome visitor finding his way through the drains and emerging via the ground floor toilet. A trail camera confirmed it, which was both useful and something I could probably have lived without seeing. Since installing this drain guard, there have been no repeat performances. It’s sturdy, looks the part, and was easy enough to fit with a few basic tools, and provided you pay some respect to the serated door, very safe. I had to tap mine into place with a hammer to get a secure fit, but nothing complicated. I’ve also set myself a reminder every couple of months to check it over, which just means making sure the flap moves freely and there’s no debris build-up. So far so good, and my goodness, what additional peace of mind!

Magic gate. Absolutely brilliant.

Appears to be a good product so far. I recommend using a rubber mallet or similar to help get the product into the pipe. One thing to note, the product has a sticker to show which way the product should face based on the direction of flow. One of the guards actually had the sticker on the wrong way and nearly caused an extremely unpleasant back up. I definitely should have checked this before installing but blindly trusted what was on the product. As the first guard was fine. WHEN USING CHECK THAT THE METAL FLAP OPENS UP TOWARDS THE DIRECTION OF FLOW. This caused me to triple check the other guard which indeed correctly printed. As the instructions state, worth checking these regularly.

This rat gate has been a game changer for dealing with a rat issue we were facing. We had been dealing with rat activity under our floors and in the loft. After speaking to a specialist he advised that they were entering through the drains and told us to fit a gate in our drain inspection chamber. The rat gate is a robust, made from stainless steel, and it's clear that the product is built to last. I had seen some plastic alternatives but the risk is the rats will chew through the plastic. Installation was a bit tricky, but manageable. As our drain was relatively shallow, I was able to reach in and fit the guard. It took about 5 minutes, including tightening or loosening the bolt to secure each gate in place. For those with deeper drains, the installation might be more challenging, and a different type of gate may be needed. I initially purchased two of these drain guards several years ago, and recently purchase of a third to cover an additional drain, I checked on the original two. I was pleased to find that there were no signs of rust, wear, or movement—testaments to the product’s durability. There was also no signs of a blockage as the gate allowed liquid and solid waste to pass through while preventing rats from moving upstream.

We were getting rats popping up in our outside drain where our kitchen sink waste pipe flowed. They could not get out, but it is disconcerting seeing them and the thought of them popping out of the toilet is somewhat alarming. After looking for a solution I stumbled across these one way gates that can be fitted in an inspection chamber. I was sceptical about how easy it would be to install, although I needn’t have worried. Fitting took less than five mins, all you do is slide it into the pipe in an inspection chamber. It is a reassuringly secure fit and I gave it a couple of taps with a rubber mallet. Since fitting, I have not seen or heard a rat and there is no evidence in the inspection chamber of them getting past it. Also I have checked a couple of times after fitting and no toilet waste has got stuck on it. I feel it is a little expensive for why it is, but this was the cheapest I could find it. Hopefully it’ll last for years to come!

Brilliant, works brilliant and easy installation

Nachdem wir ständig Geräusche von Ratten in unseren Hausrohren hatten, habe ich diese Sperre bestellt. Es war die beste Idee die ich hatte. Meine Nerven können sich wieder beruhigen, das Problem mit den Ratten war sofort behoben. Jetzt können wir wieder schlafen. Der Einbau war für mich als Laien sehr einfach und hat rund 15 Minuten gedauert. Das Material fühlt sich sehr hochwertig an, ich denke das wir jetzt viele Jahre Ruhe haben werden. Allen die mit Ratten ein Problem haben , kann ich diese Rattensperre nur empfehlen.

Perfekt, wirkt absolut robust, und etwas Gemein, also genau was man sich wünscht. Ich habe die Klappe im Wartungsschacht vorm Haus nachgesetzt um zu verhindern das Nagetiere zu den Fallrohren gelangen. Hat geklappt! Diese klappen habe ich nur gewählt weil sie total wirkungsvoll, fies und gefährlich aussahen...passte zu meiner Stimmungslage, gegenüber den kleinen Tierchen :)
