First heard about this from a Raspberry Pi internet monitoring setup where the author also monitored the power consumption of his satellite gear with a Shelly plug. I grabbed one and installed it on the pump for my 25,000 gal swimming pool. Pump pulls 989W consistently, well within Shelly's limits. I can now monitor the power consumption from a Pi and detect things like a burst hose or low water level based on feedback from the pump. I can also turn the pump on and off remotely which makes vacuuming by myself a breeze. I have bypassed the old mechanical time switch my dad mounted on the wall when I was a kid and now I schedule the pump operating hours in the Shelly app. I love this product and will be buying a few more! Very capable and has a whole slew of communication options including wifi, bluetooth, websocket. and MQTT.
