Having spent thirty years in the utility industry, I can attest as to what an uncomfortable helmet feels like. Luckily I’m not having that issue with this helmet. If a helmet fits well and is comfortable, then you're more likely to wear it. Over the years I’ve seen people take them off due to being so uncomfortable. That’s where having several adjustment points comes in handy, as it allows you to dial the helmet in to fit your particular head shape. These helmets are expandable in that you can attach ear protection or various visors. I elected out of these options as I wanted the helmet to be as light as possible. Nevertheless it is handy to have eye protection readily available. There are ventilation slots on the top of the helmet that can be open or closed based on your preferences. It’s nice to be able to vent hot air out, while also having the option to close them in rainy weather. My old utility helmet was difficult to keep in place. The only option one had was to tighten it down so it didn’t move. This would often lead to a massive headache. The harness on the SafeBuilder helmet is much more forgiving, and it stayed in place much better. I removed the chin cup and instead wore the head strap under my chin. For me it’s much more comfortable. I enjoy the fit and style of these helmets. I doubt electrical grade helmets will ever come with ventilation slots in them, but it sure would have been nice. WARNING Helmets are expensive, and few people want to get rid of them, especially if they look like nothing's wrong with them. But they do have a shelf life, similar to goods at a grocery store. Repeated exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun will break down the shell of the helmet. Repeatedly soaking the harness in sweat will also cause it to deteriorate. Please read the instruction sheet that comes with the helmet.
