UPDATE: Turned out GREAT! You *CAN* duplicate keys and it offers so much smarts!
This product turned out to be ***really impressive**** and great! It's a unique marvel of multiple products in one device: smart lock with keypad, palm reading, physical key, connected doorbell, digital peephole AND security camera with AI. If you struggle to record your hands, I have a suggestion. See video (uploaded low res for privacy). Start with your fingers on the sensor at the same angle of the palm reader (top of device) and slowly raise your hand while keeping the same angle vs the reader. At some point it will register/recognize it. This process became super simple for the whole family to register all hands. At the location it recognizes the palm you can then make a mark on the door frame with a pencil to help you remember the exact location and angle to use next time. Simple and easy. Also, I read information on the product page, and some reviews likely repeating the page info, that you cannot duplicate the keys "for security reasons". ***BUT*** it turns out you can copy the keys as I did at the local hardware store, nothing different to other keys out there. This may seem like an issue but for us it was crucial to have the reassurance that we can each have a physical key to open the lock in an emergency if the battery or motor fails (it hasn't). So yes you can easily copy the keys (they include 2 with the device). The smart notifications detecting people at the door and recordings you can watch from anywhere and the autolock, state update and temporal passwords are already worth the price. On my first review, I was distressed that it required calling customer support to get the round faceplate to install on the door and that the customer support was not easy to reach. However customer support did reach out and did all they could to help me get the round faceplates quickly. Kudos to the eufy team! I encourage eufy to improve the product and communication in a number ow ways to make it even more awesome: Have better information on keys being able to be duplicated if needed, nothing to fear as every other similar lock out there will let you do that and this is an asset that could turn customers away fearing only 2 keys are included. Also, try to include all the right hardware in the box to avoid the issue of extra calls. Finally better support training to resolve and escalate things quickly. Overall, a great impressive product and team and I look forward to keeping using this device and learning more about the ways Eufy innovates in this space.

Best door lock all the way through
The palm scanner is fast and accurate. It recognizes registered palms in about a second and unlocks smoothly. I have tested it in different lighting conditions and temperatures and it has been consistent. No false rejections, no letting in strangers. It knows who is who and responds accordingly. Beyond the palm feature, it has all the standard smart lock capabilities. Keypad codes, fingerprint reader, app control, temporary access for guests. Multiple ways to get in means flexibility for different situations. The palm scanner is the headline feature but having backup options is practical. Build quality is solid and the lock feels secure. This is not some flimsy gadget pretending to be security hardware. It looks and feels like a serious lock that happens to have futuristic tech built in. The installation fit my standard door prep without modification. The app integration works well for remote monitoring and access management. See who comes and goes, create and revoke access codes, check lock status from anywhere. All the smart features you would expect from a premium smart lock in 2026. For anyone wanting to upgrade their door security with something that feels cutting edge while actually being practical, this delivers. The palm recognition is not just a party trick. It is genuinely useful and works every time. Welcome to the future of home entry.

Expensive and pretty😅 does the work very well
We've had this now since last June we love it so far works really well good video quality. The app itself can be slow. It does disconnect sometimes but not too often, the battery life is good it's for Airbnb so I'm not using it daily to fully know. I love the feature on this where you can give someone temporary access works really well ❤️ very easy to use and I love the look

Palm scan entry is a true game changer
I absolutely love this Eufy FamiLock S3 Max. I have used other smart locks before, but this one immediately stood out and became a no-return purchase for me. The palm vein recognition is the real differentiator. You walk up, raise your palm, and the door unlocks. No keys. No codes. No phone. It just works. Once you experience it, it is hard to go back, especially when your hands are full. We have multiple users set up, including my wife and me, and it recognizes each of us quickly and consistently. I also love the built-in camera and doorbell. When someone rings the doorbell, there is a screen on the back of the lock so you can see who is outside without using a peephole. It feels thoughtful and very well designed. Being part of the Eufy ecosystem with the HomeBase makes everything seamless. The video quality is clear, the app is easy to use, and the overall system feels solid and secure. There are a lot of smart locks on the market, but the palm scan feature is what sold me. It is simple, fast, and genuinely useful in real life.

2-month update: 3-in-one and pretty good at each, but stopped working with no warning.
Update: I got it November 24 and the faceplate stopped working January 19th. Leaving as usual and couldn't press the button on the keypad to lock, no lights, no sign of camera working, don't thing the interior screen would either. Doorbell did work, as did app access to lock and unlock. No warning. I remember the battery being around 50%, it had been around 45-50 degrees overnight but lock is fairly protected. Removed the battery to charge it, on the AAA's it works a lot like it had been, auto-locks and app can lock/unlock it. except doorbell just says "main battery low" when pressed. Put the main battery back in, and everything works again. Unsure whether it was simply the removal/replacement or it actually needed charging. Neither would be great. Guess we'll see in 2 more months. And the AAA's dropped about a third in the couple hours without the main battery. Otherwise I had just been raving about it, good camera with access to past events without subscription. Palm often works as soon as a put my hand up--but sometimes have to move my hand a bit. Original review: I do like it quite a lot, it's great that it does 3 jobs at once: electronic lock, video doorbell, security camera--and it seems to do them all well. It's pretty fast, seems well built, and it does a great job of knowing when the door is closed to auto lock (many others have janky add-on contact sensors/magnets, pretty sure this uses the camera and local AI instead). Also, it was unclear from reviews I'd watched but this DOES HAVE local storage for recordings (and it lets you download to your phone), so it does NOT need an extra Eufy hub to store the video! There are a couple negatives however: very little adjustment range on installing which left a sliver of the door hole visible on the side of my installation, some kind of extra gasket or a little more adjustment range on the deadbolt alignment would be great; the key is very nonstandard so many report it's hard to get duplicated--however given the backup battery plus externally accessible charge port maybe people should rethink how much they need a key; the range/sensitivity setting for the people detection doesn't do that much in a condo/public courtyard setting--I would love to have something like ability to categorize loitering detection at a higher level of alert than a passerby... and also if it wouldn't report me using the lock as loitering! Overall though it does all three things pretty darn well and I'm glad I bought it, installation was easy, the vein scanning seems to work pretty well and the auto locking feature is great.

A must have!!!
So helpful!!! Very well made and hasn't locked me out yet. Love that I could leave my keys in my pocket and on half to turn my back to open and close my door. Easy installation. Have a rewind the the video a few times though..

Nightmare of a product
I am a big eufy user. I own several eufy products: the cameras, the doorbell, the motion sensor, and the HomeBase 3. I expected the Familock would integrate flawlessly, just like my existing devices. I read the negative reviews, but I assumed those customers received defective units. That assumption turned out to be a major mistake. Installation Was Easy, Operation Is Not Actually putting the lock on the door was easy. The instructions were good, and it went on just fine. The real headache started the minute I connected it to the HomeBase. Literally the next day, the lock just disappeared, it was offline in the app. I thought maybe my whole HomeBase died, but nope! Every other product, the doorbell right next to the lock, the cameras, was working perfectly. I had to close the app and reopen it three times before the lock decided to come back online. I hoped it was just a fluke, but I was wrong. This happens all the time now. The connection is totally unstable, and I constantly have to mess with the app just to see if my door is locked. The Missing Matter/HomeKit Feature Another huge issue is the advertised compatibility. The product description clearly states it supports Matter and Apple Home connectivity. This is misleading. I have repeatedly attempted to connect it to HomeKit, and the app constantly returns an error message: "the camera cannot connect to matter at this moment." The promised integration is completely unavailable. The Failure of Remote Access (And Value) The entire point of buying a Wi-Fi connected smart lock is to have reliable remote access—to check the status or unlock the door when you are away from home. Because this lock constantly drops its connection, that functionality is nonexistent. I cannot rely on this device when I need it most. Instead of getting a modern, convenient smart lock, I feel like I paid a huge sum of money for a completely unreliable product that barely functions better than a basic In summary: The setup was easy, but the lock constantly drops its connection, making remote access impossible, and the Matter/Apple Home feature is falsely advertised. This product simply does not deliver the basic features expected of a smart lock. Save your money and look somewhere else.

Better than I had imagined!
I was able to easily install myself. The app works very well and I had no issue connecting to wifi and getting it to work. I haven’t had any issues with the palm reader so far, which is a really convenient option. The screen/camera is also very clear and works well. I’m very happy I decided to go with this smart lock!
