Does anyone know why this rice is so high in calories? I thought wild rice was healthier and lower in calorie than other rice options but it’s not

Wild rice is not actually rice. It’s the grain of a reed-like aquatic plant. It’s pretty much a grass. It has 30% fewer calories than brown rice and 40% more protein. It also has a bunch of antioxidants, potassium, zinc and fiber. It contains vitamin A, C and E, which is supposed to be helpful for the immune system. It’s considered a superfood. I buy a box in bulk every month.

Well, I had wild rice pancakes at a Canadian restaurant. Best pancakes I’ve ever eaten. I Suspect they spread cooked wild rice in pan, heated rice, and poured pancake batter over warmed rice. Try it. I think you’ll be surprised!
