I found that one showed some signs of emerald ash borer (EAB) infestation & when I checked my application rate, found that I had misjudged my tree circumference by half. So I recently doubled up he application rate for this year to get up to a normal total for the year. My two smaller circumference trees show no signs of borer damage. This is in an area where 1/3 to 1/2 of all our parkway trees will be removed this fall due to EAB infestation and damage. **Q: Liquid vs granular; 12" tree=12oz liquid (1oz/inch) = 3cups dry (1/4c/inch). thus 10.6 12" trees per gallon, 7.5 12" trees per 10lbs. please verify.** A: I am only familiar with the liquid, which I have use for some years now. I keep a record of the plants I use it on and update for growth each year (measure them). This is not an exact science, but it works. If the tops get eaten this year, I add a little more next year. This year I bought 2 gallon jugs plus a bottle. If need be I'll add a second dose to my Climbing Hyrangea because the beetles love it. I use this formula: 128 oz. = 1 gal., 1/4 gal. = 32 oz. and 1 fl. oz. = 2 tbsp. Measure each tree/bush, record it, get the total inches and convert to gal. and oz. The label tells you how mant oz. per inch. This product is half the battle - I use Grubex also. **Q: will this product kill bark beetles?** A: Thank you for asking! 12 Month Tree & Shrub Protect & Feed would control the Pine Bark Beetle for 12 months. **Q: 1 oz to mix with 1 gl of water for 1" trunk. Then how many gallon of water should be used for, say, 20 oz of product? Concentration is the concern** A: If your trunk circumference measures below 50 inches you would need to mix the required amount with 1 gallon of water. If your measurement is 50 inches or above, you would mix with 2 gallons of water. After applying the mixed product we also recommend following up with an additional amount of fresh water to help move the product down to the root system.
