EDIT: I have upgraded my rating from three stars to five because there is an easy fix to the email problem that I described below if you are using an iPad or iPhone to set up your camera. You can’t do it by simply entering the information on the Dericam app, it won’t accept email settings. . But go ahead and set up the camera and then look under the settings for your IP address and enter that address directly into your search window. Using the password that you should have set up already, you can access the camera and it will take you to a screen that will allow you to set up the email address. The IP address is found on the Dericam app under “camera information” in settings. Another way to enter email info is to use a computer… the Dericam install app will work there. These are great cameras for the price. I have six of them in the S1 original exterior PTZ cameras, and four of their interior cameras. I just bought this S2 for the first time and the picture is phenomenal on my third party app. Not quite as good on the Dericam app actually. But, one of the touted features of these cameras is the ability to send you email alerts for motion. I have had no trouble setting up email alerts with any prior Dericam cameras, but I cannot get this S2 to recognize email settings. I know how to set up email settings since I have done it for all 10 cameras I currently have. But this new S2 will not even test the settings I put in . Dericam service keeps wanting to talk about the settings, but it doesn’t matter what the settings are if the camera will not even test them …so if getting email alerts is a priority to you, I would skip this camera.

OK I have three of these older version cameras around my house. After about three years one camera finally quit connecting to my Internet so I decided to upgrade and get the new version which is the camera. The new version uses the same app and has a slightly higher resolution but otherwise it’s the same except for a smaller base and a different kind of neck. So out of the three cameras of the older version one quit working, one is still working perfectly, and one is working 95% of the time we get a little touchy lately so I may have to replace a second one by summer. So expect to get a good three years out of these cameras the newer version is a little more smooth and a slightly better picture I included a photo but the lens is slightly dirty and my backyard has no light. If you’re just getting these cameras in sure you get a base from Amazon or a big box store to attach it to give you somewhere to hide the wires that you’re not using for the wiring is too large to fit in the small base of the camera so you have to attach the camera base to a larger base if you don’t you won’t have no place to put the extra wires.. I found This to be common in all cameras for they all have the same wiring any big box store should have a base for about $10 that you attach to your house first then the camera to the base makes everything much easier. If I get three years or more of each camera I’ll be extremely happy and they are weatherproof will have to wipe the lens off every so often if you’re not below an overhang for when we redid the siding on my home contractors reposition the camera is too low so they get weather spots after couple rains which is common In all cameras. So I take a pole it has a small brush on it and I put a microfiber cloth over the brush and wipe off the cameras every now and then so no big deal there. This is a five star camera no doubt and any problems a first time user will have it’s just getting used to the cameras and the apps I don’t buy any cameras other than Dericam for my outside for they are dependable and last a good while

Very easy setup. Np with WiFi. you don't have to have a Micro SD card if you planing to use NAS and NVR. Works just fine. The motion detection is very sensitive. I've put it all the way down to "1" but it's still getting triggered because the intensity of reflection of the sun on the wall in front of it changes slightly. Web UI best works with IE. FF is not playing nice since the video stream is flash based. And 80% of the features are not available for Chrome because the NPAPI is not allowed by it since last September. This can be fixed. There are ways around it. The devs needs to work on that. As most of the IP Cameras, this camera saves the videos in .264 format. You have to have a way to view them. VLC can help. Overall, it's a good camera. if you want the company servers out of your house, delete the camera and the app from your phone and set up your own platform (hassio + duckdns etc...)

I bought this camera to put in my elderly mother's sitting room/bedroom so that I can check on her when I'm not there. The video quality is excellent! The night vision works well, and I can easily see when the lights are off at night. The audio works well too both for the mic and the built-in speaker. The best part is the pan/tilt feature. Works great and I can look for my mom either in the sitting room or the bedroom because the camera is situated to be able to see both by panning the camera back and forth. For the price and quality, this is a great buy.

I’m returning the camera (1080-P2), but I’m disappointed because it has the potential to be a great camera, particularly for the price. However, it’s let down by the software, user instructions, and some controls: Pros - The camera has a good quality image and setup was easy through the iPhone - The live camera feed was easily accessible on the iPhone and Mac (Safari browser) - The camera restarted without any issues after a power loss, although in one instance its IP address changed. This can be an issue because the web browser requires the IP address to access the camera. Cons - The full user instructions don’t come with the camera and so have to be downloaded. The information which is included is written clearly enough, but it’s incomplete. For instance, the camera has three “streams” but there’s minimal explanation for why there are three and how best to use them. - As a Mac user, I discovered from the user manual that numerous camera functions are unavailable through my web browser (Safari), including the playback recordings from the SD card. You can’t play the recordings back through the Mac web browser (i.e., you can’t play it back the same way you watch the live feed) and instead have to download the files and then play them back using other video software. - I was unable to access the SD card recordings through the iPhone - The recordings on the SD card appear as an antiquated directory. This, together with the fact that the Dericam recommendation is to have recordings divided into 10-minute clips, even when recording continuously, makes it an unwieldy process. - The controls for the tilt/pan functions made it difficult to move the camera in small increments, plus the camera response would sometimes be erratic

The Dericam P2 has a fantastic picture at 1920 x 1080, and the night vision works great. Frame rate is 30 frames per second if recording to a SD card; otherwise frame rate depends on network connection. Customer support was a great help setting up the camera and answering questions I had about the product. The software could be better (they are still working on it); you will find yourself using the phone app, as well as the IE/Firefox plug-in, and their HiP2P Client app to do various things with the camera. I downloaded ContaCam (free software), which is much easier to use for its purpose. You will still want to use the HiP2P Client to move the camera into its position; but ContaCam makes it very easy to setup recording schedules, motion detection, etc. So, 5 stars for the camera; software gets about 2-3 stars; but there is alternative free software on the internet which works much better with this camera. Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase. Currently unrecognized password characters include " \ & = these four characters are used for firmware updates.

I purchased one of these to test out for monitoring my new lil pup while we were away. This has a great field of view, pans as much as needed and tilts. The night vision works well. In fact, night vision is great and pretty clear and crisp. This performed well enough that I ordered a second for the other side of the house, for when hes in free roam mode. I will say one thing, when panning the move to the left or right is a preset amount. I would like to see being able to pan by little amounts at my control. Maybe its a limitation on the mechanism on the camera. Still worth the purchase for the price. Update: I purchased another 3 of these and all worked well, up to about 2 months ago... one of them would not read an SD card. It was still covered and Amazon sent me a new on and I returned the defective one. One month later that same camera that was replaced started to have camera issues and then connectivity issues. Amazon would not replace as the window was closed. Update... update.. I order another to replace the one that was down. It shipped and when received it was missing all the plastic peels like it had been used and returned... not sure... either way it would not register for new setup using either the standard new device setup or using the dericam scan tool. I called Amazon and they sent a replacement. 2 days a new one arrived. I could tell this one was new as it still had all of its protective plastic factory stickers on. This camera was set up in less than 5 minutes. Dericam is horrible for customer service. I have emailed them and no reply to date. If it wasn't for the fact that I don't want to manage multiple apps to access cameras I would have went with someone else.

The camera arrived without the added 5db antenna. Range is one of the reasons I selected this camera, so I really wanted it. Amazon would have me to return the camera, so I contacted Dericam support. They shipped me the antenna right away. That's the way it should work. Picture quality is good for the price point. I don't use the IR, as I have it pointed out a window and it would reflect off the glass. Works well with third party apps (iSpy anyway). For the geeks, the CD has a manual on it that explains all the commands available via cgi. Setup was easy, but I bypassed any software. I connected the camera, looked up the IP in my router, pointed my web browser to it, and started pushing buttons. So far the only downside is that if it powers off and on, it resets it's position to a default position (which is not pointing out the window). I got around this by having ispy tell it to go to a preset every time it reconnects with the camera.

Non le manca nulla! Robusta di costruzione, di facile montaggio ed ottima ricezione wifi. Lato software: molto funzionale e con tutte le funzioni che possono servire (alert mail, registrazione su sd, registrazione via FTP, ecc.); ottimo ed aggiornato sistema di gestione peer to peer via app e, contrariamente a quanto letto, utilizzabile anche tramite Chrome su PC (basta puntare all'IP assegnato dal router per accedere alla webcam ed alla sd interna). Lato hardware, ottima visibilità sia diurna che notturna (quest'ultima raggiunge tranquillamente i 15m).

Je l'utilise pour mon jardin en wifi à 30 mètres de ma box, je perds légèrement en qualité d'image mais dans l'ensemble tout fonctionne parfaitement bien. Très bien en vision de nuit, bon zoom, détecteur de mouvement au top, me détecte une toute petite souris en pleine nuit 😁, installé en 5 minutes, aucune connaissance requise. Je recommande !

The camera is ideal for my requirements for home security. It gives very clear day time images, and I like the fact it has optical zoom as well as digital zoom. It supports audio which is a great feature. On the whole the camera was easy to install and set up with a little help from Dericams customer support, who i can highly recommend. I had to contact them for a couple of minor issues, one being how to set up email alerts. They were excellent in the speed at which they responded and each time had answeres to my questions. I was so impressed with the quality of the images and the ease of use through the Dericam app that i ordered a second camera for the rear of my house. The only thing i would say against the camera is the email alerts are a little bit sensitive even on a low setting, but this obviously doesnt affect the operation of the camera. All in all a great camera for the price.

Die Installation ins eigene Netzwerk erfolgt per IP Kabel und geht mit einem Installationsprogramm einfach. Anschließend läuft der Betrieb der Kamera reibungslos übers WLAN. Der optische Zoom ist beeindruckend, Nachtsicht ist sehr gut. Presets für Positionen lassen sich einfach und frei einstellen. Der Zugriff auf die Kamera geht über den Computer oder per App (iPhone) auch per Datenübertragung mit dem Smartphoe. Fast alle Funktionen gehen auf dem Computer und auf der App. Schwierig und trickreich ist die Speicherung der Alarm Aufzeichnungen auf der MyCloud WD Festplatte im eigenen Home Netzwerk. Funktioniert auch, aber ich habe es nicht selbst hinbekommen. Dafür gibt es im Internet Beschreibungen aber es ist sehr trickreich. Ich kann die abgespeicherten Bilder und Videoclips per WD MyCloud App abrufen und dort natürlich auch remote bearbeiten. Alles in Allem war ich so zufrieden, dass ich mir insgesamt 6 Dericams gekauft habe. Indoor und Outoor mit PTZ
