The illustration remains amazing and the story makes some good progress too. I continue to be impressed with how well done this graphic novel series is. In this volume Emily struggles to gain control of her Amulet and escape the Void. Meanwhile Trellis is trying to take his place as rightful king of the Elves. Navin goes to Lighthouse One and leaves on a mission to help protect the worlds against the Shadow forces. The story is moving a bit slow and it jumps between a lot of people and places in this book. However, I am still really enjoying it. At some point I would like to sit down and read all these volumes back to back. Since these books seem to be coming out at the rate of a volume every other year it would be great to have a “story thus far” in the front of these books. There was quite a bit of character development in this series, despite all the jumping around. It was great to see what a force Emily is becoming, and there were some interesting twists around her character in here. Overall this is another great volume in this top notch fantasy graphic novel series. There is only one more volume in this series and I am eager to see how it wraps up! Review: Great series for kids - We pre-purchased the book because our 10yr old has read each book in the series. When we got the notice that the book would be delivered, he couldn't wait to get it. Once it arrived he ripped open the package then ran to his room to read it. He was done in a day... then all of his friends at school, who saw him reading it, wanted to borrow it. I do have to say, we are fairly avid Anime fans and have got our son hooked on thing like: Totoro, Ponyo (along with other Studio Ghibli titles), Log Horizon, SAO, Magus Bride, etc.; as well as on some of the Manga. I really can't say enough about this series, which I've also read. The world that Kazu Kibuishi crafts is extremely interesting. The message of perseverance after a loss, the importance of family, trusting people of all races, and finding the power within us is a great one for kids and adults. Some parts are are a little dark but not really frightening for younger kids. The story keeps you interested to the last page, then wanting more.

Great series!
The Amulet series is a great young adult graphic novel series. It helped interest my young boys want to read. We have all 8 of these and they reread them often. It is an interesting story and is beautifully illustrated. They have lent these books to their friends who also love the story. It's perfect for your 1st - 3rd grader. Unlike some other stories that use potty humor or lots of gore, this has strong storyline that is full of suspense, magic good storytelling that keeps kids interested.

Intriguing Juvenile Graphic Novel Series!
We, my children and I, have been following this series for awhile. It is great! When you finish reading one you can't wait to pick up the next. Kazu Kibushi is an amazing artist and story teller! We can hardly wait for the next one to come out! The art is astounding and we find ourselves going back to look at the pictures! I highly recommend these series to 8 and up. There are dark elements with the villain(s) and their images maybe scary to younger ones. We enjoy reading these together and on our own.

It’s a great book but…
Okay so I love this book series but when I was reading the eighth one when I was getting to the end the bottom started sticking together so I tried gently pulling it apart but it cause the bottom part to rip or become thin

Second grader happily reading
Some of the words he encountered are new and difficult to sound out, but my kid loves the storyline of the Amulet series, has grown an affinity to certain characters, and happily reads these. He likes the all-dialogue text with illustrations, so graphic novels have become his favorites. Amulet is definitely among the better series he could get into. It’s not silly, it has some good lessons, the adventure is high action with good pacing, and illustrations are phenomenal.

Surprisingly mature for a YA graphic novel
My grandson requested this book for Christmas so I had to make sure it was suitable for a 10 YO boy by reading it first, and I found the plot and themes very mature for a YA book. There are multiple versions of the main character at different stages of life, characters having questions of good and evil about other characters, and all conducted with vocabulary suited for a YA readership. If the other books in the series are of the same quality as this, I'm a fan.

The book arrived today, earlier than I expected. Supernova ranks with The Cloud Searchers as my favourite book in the Amulet series. The part where Navin, Aly, and company go to space was a part that I enjoyed, as a fan of sci-fi. This book would be a hit with fans of science-fiction as well as fantasy.

This is the eight installment in the series (yep, #8). I was hooked on the first book and have been following along ever since. Start this series from the beginning and re-read it multiple times. Each time a new book is release my kids and myself take turns reading through from the beginning of the series again. My daughter is always the first one to finish. Story line is very well done and graphics are exceptional. Great book for the whole family.
