However, after taking a second look and comparing them more carefully to the window frame, I realized that they do fit correctly; it just takes a bit of patience to find the exact placement. The quality of the rain guards is actually quite good for the price. If you're installing these, my advice is to do a 'dry fit' several times before peeling off the adhesive tape to make sure you have the alignment perfect.
