My dog does not try to lick it off when it is applied. It does leave marks on the hardwood flooring and care should be taken when applying this. We had to take him to the Emergency Vet Hospital. Please use caution with this product. The vet bill was Approx $300.00. I have left a message with company to return my call. PLEASE USE CAUTION WITH THIS PRODUCT. I am not saying that this will happen to your dog, but make sure they are not allergic to the ingredients they put in this balm. They state that it is hypoallergenic. I don't think so. I called amazon to let them know what happened.
