Review: Damaged sensor - Normally I use a sensor for the instant test of my blood sugar I understand that if my sensor reads high or low to do a finger test, I have learned so much about my diabetes through using a CGM. I normally buy two sensors, I’m type 2 diabetic so I can’t get these on the NHS, I pay privately. For the first time I put a sensor on my arm and it stopped working after a day, I had no choice but to replace it so that almost £50 down the drain, however, I would still recommend these sensors especially to a newly diagnosed person as it takes away the fear of what can I eat?
Review: Perfect for diabetic patients - First of all, I would like to state that it would be beneficial to have this device under the supervision of your doctor. You can easily use this device yourself and easily follow how much, how and for how long your food affects you. It would be beneficial to follow the instructions clearly stated in the user manual. Its application is very practical and it definitely does not hurt. At the end of the 14-day usage period, removing the product hurts in the first few applications, at least psychologically you think it does. However, once you get used to it, removing the product is very easy and painless. You can follow the status of your blood sugar minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day thanks to an application that you will download to your mobile phone. The values and graphs shown by the application simultaneously show the status of your blood sugar with the foods you eat. The values shown in mmol/L are recorded on your device for 14 days and in the Estimated A1C section in the "daily patterns" section, it shows you your % value (the mmol/mol value is also shown). It is worth repeating; your doctor also needs to access this information simultaneously with you for the most efficient use of this device. I definitely recommend this device to diabetic patients, whose only disadvantage is its high price.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: The product info states it’s a Pack of two - does that mean two sensors eg 2 x 2 weeks? Reviews are disappointed only pack of one. What is it - 1 or 2**
A: One per pack
one lasts 14 days
Brilliant Syncs with the Libre App.
Which you download.
I use it for my dog!
On humans it will stay on the full 14 days.
So easy to apply too.
I’d get from Abbot directly
It’s cheaper.
Sorry Amazon.

**Q: Have I got this right? You have to pay £1200 per year just to test your blood sugar level?**
A: This is continuous glucose monitoring, unlike a finger prick test which is a “one off” measurement. You load the Libre App onto your phone and every 4 hours or so you can upload data from the device on your arm. In this way you can gather a whole days worth of data showing your blood glucose status throughout the day. If you also track your food and activity (say with MyFitnessPal) you can see how you body responds. All of this is really only of interest if you suspect you may have type 2 diabetes or are pre diabetic and want to modify your lifestyle. In that is the case, I’d say it’s money very well spent.

**Q: Why is the app not reading? I am using the libre link up**
A: If it is a new sensor. You normally have to wait an hour. Also check we’re your sensor on you phone is . On apple I phone the sensor is built in we’re the light and camera lens is at the top . I make sure that side is touching the libre sensor

**Q: It says that it last for up to 14 days. What happens after that? Would I need to make extra purchases to keep monitoring it after the 14 days?**
A: The Freestyle Libre 2 uses a self powered circular sensor which sticks to the upper arm. The sensors have to be replaced by new ones every two weeks.
It pays to buy a pack of 100 economical sensor protectors, to avoid the sensor being knocked off by accident.

### ⭐ Must have expensive phone to work.
*by T***E on 26 February 2024*

It's really, really hard to find this information, but when the doctor recommended the device we were told it worked on bluetooth. It turns out the app will only work if you have an NFC chip in your phone to scan the device and also bluetooth to send the information. An NFC chip is something most phones do not have, and if you do have one, you do not want to leave it on all of the time, since it makes it very easy for anyone near you to steal any and all information from your phone. Fun thing is, the app panics and starts making very alarming noises at you if you turn off your NFC chip, even though you only need to scan it every 8 hours for uninterrupted data. We had to go through the house checking every smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm before we finally figured out what was making the terrible racket. All of this was only after we finally got the app to work and actually be willing to send data to the doctor. The first device was completely wasted, as we spent longer than it stayed on just trying to get the correct version of the app to download. I cannot fathom why the company would possibly geo-lock the different versions of their app, but because they did, once it decided we were in a completely different country than we actually are, it was impossible to change its mind. It also seems that once the app came out, they stopped making the dedicated scanning devices, because we were desperate enough to just buy one and cannot find them anywhere online or in the 30 nearest pharmacies to us. Spending 100-150 Euros on a scanning device was by far the cheapest and least-hassle option, and we wish we could have done so. I will say that customer service did respond quickly to questions, even though the responses ended up being ultimately unhelpful. They did try, but we probably knew more about their product at that point than anybody answering customer service questions would. We needed an engineer for the device or a programmer for the app to give us real answers. As others have noted, they won't stay on for 14 days. The manufacturere does state UP TO 14 days, to be fair. You'll want to balance out the cost vs. what use and information you'll actually get out of it. We got 5 days out of the first one, but zero information out of it with no ability to scan it whatsoever. The second one, we got 3 days out of it, but didn't have the doctor put it on until we got the app sorted, having to spend 300 Euro on the cheapest phone we could find with an NFC chip to literally use just for this one thing. So, if you decide it's worth it, make absolutely certain you have the app sorted and everything up and running (accounts and profiles made and ensure you have your doctor linked if you want to have the data sending over to your doctor, since the linking process is also not working properly) before wasting one of these to find out the entire process can end up being an utter nightmare. Or maybe check into if any other brand makes things easier to obtain the data. We started with this brand, since they claim to be the smallest on the market, and we were hoping they'd stay on better than larger ones, but it would have cost much less and given us actual data if we went with anything else.
