Also after a couple sharpening does it still hold a edge like if it was new?** A: For those too young to remember great grandpa shaving with a straight razor, let me give you a quick education. RAZOR sharp knife means it will not hold an edge. The sharper the edge, the quicker it will dull. That's why great grandpa had a razor strop that he honed his beard cutting steel with every time he used it. A fine razor edge on a fillet knife is important, as is the knowledge that you must hone (not sharpen) the edge regularly to maintain it. **Q: Can a lefty use this knife or is the blade made for right handers?** A: I am also a lefty. It works well. Really solid knife for larger fish. **Q: What would be the best sharpening tool for this knife?** A: This is a large can of worms on this ask; I ask 10 folks, will get 10 answers. Since I was little, was taught to use an Arkansas stone, it's my comfort zone and haven't met a blade I couldn't hone yet. I've tried other methods, but for me, the stone is far superior.
