Cucina Antica Tomato Basil Sauce, 25 oz

I’m not sure why one of the reviewers said it was nasty/didn’t taste like tomatoes. This is a very tomato-forward sauce; the tomatoes are good quality and the other flavors let that flavor really shine. It’s very fresh tasting, so it’s a good base sauce to build on. It would be lovely in a pasta pomodoro or with chicken Parmesan for that reason. I personally wanted something really garlicky today, so I added some garlic powder, salt, then on a whim, tossed in a little bit of the WH garlic butter I had leftover from making garlic bread. That made it a little richer and satisfied this craving. Anyway, I really like this sauce and will buy again.

We love this sauce for its simpleness and great San Marzano tomato flavor. There were some batches that we received that seem better than others, but I guess that can happen. We generally like to make our own sauce, but when we're in a hurry, this is a great alternative. Definitely recommended!

With diabetes in my family, I have been on a mission to find the best tasting low sugar (no sugar added) pasta sauce for the last few months. I have tried every organic/low sugar sauce sold by our local Publix and Kroger grocery stores. After trying 1 jar of this sauce I believe my search is finally at an end. It has a fantastic flavor, and is a good deal if you buy 6 jars at a time with free shipping direct from Cucina Antica. The 32 oz jars are the best deal.

This is quite possibly the best sauce available in a jar. Every other sauce you can get at the local market is heavily seasoned. Apparently, there are many who think Italian means put in as much garlic and oregano as possible. This sauce is lightly seasoned and does not have garlic. To me, garlic has to be fresh so it makes sense to leave it out of the preparation and add it later if you like. We use this sauce as it is from the jar as well as a base for primavera or al pesto. The 32 oz. jars are probably the best value available.

My husband has a garlic allergy and so it is hard to find a good tomato sauce that I can use in my cooking. I order this in bulk as I use it in so many dishes. Basic meat sauce for our no carb noodles. In Osso bucco, sloppy joes, chili, spicy coconut curry chicken... Any dish that needs crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce. I even use it in place of a can of whole tomatoes in recipes and it works great. Plus it is in glass not cans so it is much, much healthier.

I bought this thinking it would be a particularly flavorful pasta sauce as it was much more expensive than other tomato sauces on the market and made with tomatoes from a special region in Italy. It is not. It basically tastes boring like it is missing ingredients. It tastes like what it is, a plain tomato base whose purpose is for cooking with to make dishes which need tomatoes in them.

The item description said 12 jars and now it says 1item. The description is very misleading! Shame on you! I will be reporting to Amazon.
