Review: Smokeless & S'mores - We had a gas fire pit at our previous home and it was perfect in many ways so when we built our new home we had a gas line plumbed in for our future outdoor fire pit. Then we saw this unit featured on a TV show and thought about how nice it would be to sit around a real fire. The main reason for not considering this before was the inevitable smoke. So we abandoned the gas and installed this and couldn't be more pleased. As stated in the instructions the unit needs to get hot before the magic begins, I recommend getting your fire going for about 15 to 20 mins before sitting around it. We've enjoyed many evenings with a dozen or more people around it and no one has to put up with the smoke. It's a well-built unit so it should serve us for many years to come.

Only negative is that the fire pit is made in mild steel finished with cheap flat black grill paint, and much of it blisters away showing raw steel, and this needs to later be sanded clean and repainted (or, left to rust) - I would have happily paid more if it were available in stainless. I may modify the design by adding a 1/2" tall lip around the fire pit opening, to help deflect the heat and protect the finish.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this sit directly on top of my paver patio? If it can do I need to lay down anything extra?**
A: As long as the pavers are the right diameter and depth this will insert directly on top of them. Nothing extra is needed.

**Q: how much smoke does this fire pit produce?**
A: It depends on the type and amount of wood you burn. That being said, once the ring heats up (which is key to it working) I would say it produces about 10-15% of the amount of smoke that the same fire would otherwise produce. Most people I have shown it to seem to peg it at about that amount as well.

**Q: What is the mesurments of the larger ring around the top?**
A: The inside diameter is 30" the outside ring adds another 4" to the radius. In other words about a 4" wide lip around the pit.

**Q: I have an existing fire pit with a metal insert. Should I remove the existing metal insert before putting the Zentro in?**
A: I believe zentro recommends that their insert go directly into the pit of possible. That being said, if it fits with the existing one still in place, I can't see it being much of an issue.

Then we saw this unit featured on a TV show and thought about how nice it would be to sit around a real fire. The main reason for not considering this before was the inevitable smoke. So we abandoned the gas and installed this and couldn't be more pleased. As stated in the instructions the unit needs to get hot before the magic begins, I recommend getting your fire going for about 15 to 20 mins before sitting around it. We've enjoyed many evenings with a dozen or more people around it and no one has to put up with the smoke. It's a well-built unit so it should serve us for many years to come.
