Look, I'm not one to write reviews, but this product is the biggest fraud I've ever seen. I purchased two! (insane, I know) But I'm so reasonable that after the first one jammed on the FIRST GRIND, I actually thought "hmmm, maybe that one was just defective." So I bought this pretty, but ultimately USELESS item which fails to do the single thing it is made for, for any length of time. Setting 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are guaranteed to result in jams. Don't even attempt using those. Or better yet, don't use this piece of trash at all. I have never felt better about returning something in my life. Would give it ZERO out of five if I could. Hope this helps someone avoid wasting their time and money. Merry Christmas!

Wish I’d gotten the similarly priced baratza encore. This unit spits coffee everywhere and requires constant cleaning. High retention is part of the problem, but also the cup to collect ground coffee does not sit flush with the exit hole. As far as I can tell the anti static feature doesn’t work at all. For what it’s worth the coffee grinds well but the burrs are basically the same as the tried and tested baratza.

Did my research and thought this was going to be a good choice. I liked the look and multiple reviews from Amazon & YouTube. At first, meaning the first 2 months, the grinder worked great...no complaints, as the grinder ran flawless. It could grind coffee to various coarse ground sizes, NP. But after 2 months I started to notice more and more coffee grind retention in the grinder itself. I would regularly clean like 1x week. My usage was one double espresso a day. So on average, 7 double's a week, again with a weekly cleaning. But after a few months the grind retention would be more and more frequent. Like other reviews, it seemed like every 2 or 3 days, I would have to do a full cleaning just to minimize the retention inside the grinder. I also used a scale and would measure coffee in vs. coffee out. I was losing approx. 2~3 grams per 17~18 gram grind for a double. This is frustrating since I measure my coffee weight to target 17~18 grams depending on my pull. Now, I have to "guess" how much coffee grind retention is going to be trapped in the grinder. I find myself grinding several times to meet the desired weight. It's a guessing game. But to be fair, I dial in my grinder to adjust my pour, I am not sure the average coffee person would care as much. But then again, for this price, I would expect more. The second issue is the anti-static mechanism has seemed to fail. Meaning, now when the coffee grinds come out of the grinder into the small cup at the bottom of the grinder, I have coffee grinds flying everywhere, in and out of the cup. It's like fine dust being blown down into the cup, and flies out onto the surrounding countertop. I have had the grinder now for 7 months with this happening at about month 5 or 6. I can deal with this, as it's more of an annoyance, but that's one of the features I paid for in this grinder. Now I have to wipe down the counter in about a 2 foot radius from the grinder each time of use, due to the fine "mist" of coffee grinds. My last complaint is the conical burr grinder itself inside. Due to the high coffee retention in the grinder, I have to clean out the grinder now every few grinds. Which means I have to remove the conical burr grinder inside. Not that big of a deal but the last few times, the locking mechanism has stuck to the lock position and I could not manually remove the burr grinder. It has a hand twist removal system, but I have to use pliers to twist this off since it was physically stuck. I have already bent the metal latch which your fingers would clasp around to twist using the pliers. I am very concerned that any day the metal latch is going to break, and my burr grinder will be stuck forever inside. Not really sure how to remove it once that happens. If this breaks, I'll go from 2 stars to 1. Overall this grinder seems like a great idea on paper, sleek and modern. I purchased the white color to match my other appliances. Looks good, but functions "iffy". It's high maintenance cleaning with every 2 or 3 grinds due to the coffee retention build up inside the grinder. Even with hitting the sides, shaking the thing, or using the top down "bellow" as I grind, this seems to help a bit, but still lot's of retention. Many people have complained about the coffee retention, some machines seem to do this more than others. The anti-static feature is now non-existent, and my biggest new concern is the conical burr grinder itself is getting more and more difficult to remove to clean. I guess I got unlucky. Would love to try another Fellow Opus Conical Burr Grinder to see if the one I have is a lemon, but I'm not going to gamble another $200 to test that theory.

Big fan overall. I primarily use it for espresso and I like the tactile feel on the grind setting, and how easy it is to load in beans from the top. Clean design fits in well with our kitchen, and it's also very quiet!
