This FOPO 14" Laptop Screen Extender is such a cool concept and would have been perfect for my setup! Unfortunately, I couldn’t use it with my government-issued laptop because it required a software download that wasn’t authorized by my IT department. I tested it briefly on my personal computer, and it worked great — the screens were clear, setup was simple, and the extra displays made multitasking so much easier. If FOPO ever makes a version that doesn’t require a download to function, I’ll be first in line to buy it again! I did return it. :-(

I got this to really update my workspace in my studio! I have seen people using extension screens to increase their productivity and I have to say it really does make a difference. Even though this is meant for laptops, I know it would be much more helpful with my stationary studio desktop PC. Though I can't attach it to my monitor, there is an included stand that props this up on the monitor riser or my desk beside me. I can now keep one monitor dedicated to watching myself record videos as an enlarged Viewfinder screen, one can be dedicated to checking audio levels and the others are for miscellaneous needs. It's great to be able to not have to squeeze a ton of info on one "small" screen anymore and feel like I have breathing room to make adjustments on the fly without creating a sensory overload. The ability to power this by a portable device or directly into an outlet via the included adapter is great, too, giving much more flexibility when needing to keep wires and cords in order when traveling.

I previously owned a Kwumsy and coming from this the build quality is an obvious step down. Even though this is holding 3 screens to the Kwumsy's 2, it's twice as think, maybe more- which is enough to prevent me carrying it with my laptop in my day time rucksack. It is light though, so not issues there. An unavoidable drawback of the 3rd screen is that you neeed to provide direct power to the array, without it only 2 screens will turn on. This is a limitation of battery USBC power output, but something I wasn't aware of until I did my first setup. This means there are more cables that I'd like to carry. To combat this I purchased a 200w GaN charger that supported 2x USBC power output at 65w each, allowed me to have a single plug to the wall, then short cables from the block to my laptop / Fopo, which works well but add $100 to the price. Getting setup isn't as easy as the Kwumsy and is actually a little fiddly. The screens on the side fold out from the front of the unit, which gives them a much better viewing angle than the Kwumsy but prevents the unit having side grips midway up each side. The size adjuster is also a step back, the Kwumsy has a spring-loaded, ratchet system which locks at each notch as you tighten it against the size of your laptop, but the FOPO doesn't have iths, it's just free-floating. Once on, the fit is stable enough, but the stand is, again, fiddly to use. You need to have the FOPO on top of the laptop screen to fit it, which means gravity pull the stand back into the unit. As you tilt the screen back the stand drops out, but as it's at a length you want for full lean, stops the smooth tilting of the laptop. None of the above are show stoppers, and if I wasn't used to the relative easy and sturdiness of the Kwumsy, I might have just let it slide as "this is how multiple portable screens have to be", but I do know, so the feeling is not premium. This shoudn't detract from EXCELLENT usablility once you have it fired up and connected. All screens were located by Win 11, and their 14" size is a LOT better than the Kwumsy's 12"- you get a much more useful amount of screen space at this size. Overall, I'm happy enough with the switch. It allows me to closely replicate my 6 screen desktop setup on the move, though I wouldn't take it for a quick 30 min session in a coffee shop or airport. For me it's use is for a longer working session away from your primary setup, and it doese that job superbly.
