I sometimes melt a whole brick of a color I often use, but they work pretty well for mixing palettes, especially of small amounts of color used to create volume in realistic portrait. I like the smaller versions as well. I like the weight and soldity too, a rare find in art supplies where everthing seems to be made to be disposable!

So happy. I'm always buying pans in a kitchen shop for my pallet, but they always have large overhang on edges and take up too much premium surface on my hot palette. Just the right size for me

In my mind, I thought large was going to be real large, I guess I should have read the actual measurements. These are about 3 inches on the long side. So, I guess large is a relative term. I needed them for the medium, but they are not good for medium unless you only need a tiny bit and have smaller brushes. I give them four stars because the are made of a tough metal and good for the encaustic color waxes, but not useful for encaustic medium and they are expensive for the size you get.
