So good, we LOVE dept 56, we LOVE christmas and we LOVE Harry Potter so this was perfect for us and our christmas village.

Department 56 has made this sculpt incredibly well. It feels very solid in your hands and uses the older light bulb/ lighting system inserted into the bottom of the base. Since I only took out the sculpt to verify its condition, I did not plug it in to test it, but I have plenty of the multiple light strings on hand if it does not work. The signs are included in separate clear bags and are exceptional in design and manufacture. Diagon Alley just isn't correct without Madam Malkin's shop.

Great village piece! I wish they would go back to using porcelain, and not cheap resin. Definitely not worth the price if you are talking about the materials used to make it. But, the actual product in terms of its art is great.

I am giving Madam Malkin's Robes & Gown Shop Lit Building 4 stars. While it captures the essence of the Dept 56 Harry Potter buildings that we have come to know and love, it doesn't quite have the same quality that Dept 56 is known for. They are now making the buildings out of resin which gives a cheaper feel to the authenticity. The packaging is now flimsy. Be careful when you open it as Dept 56 is using a much lower quality of packing materials. The building sets in a softer foam with an oversleeve which slips out easily (not good), not the hard inner packaging with a "real" box that closes like Dept 56 has used in the past. My pictures show it lit and not. If you like Harry Potter it is an acceptable addition to the series. Just don't expect a nice porcelain building that Dept 56 is known for.
