How about some actual instructions?
Purchased this to use with travel, hoping to not need to drag my tripod everywhere. Instructions for use are a joke.......a few pictures with no explanation as to how to put the pieces together and attach a camera. Online videos are just as useless. For the price of this thing, I would expect detailed instructions. Will probably be returning. Follow-up: Heard from the company after emailing. Sent link on how to attach tripod adapter. Company is responsive.....that's the high point. I ditched the adapter and attached my tripod head to the metal hinge arm and attempted a walk with it. I had a Nikon D850 with a Nikon 200-500 mm lens for reference. This, according to the description, can be used with heavy lenses, ie, a Nikon 200-500. First, problem: The tripod adapter attaches to the camera body, not the lens collar. I saw no way to attach it to the lens collar. I put a ball head tripod head on so I could use the lens collar; it worked but none of this felt secure in the least. The "arms" of the Steadyshot bracket with the rachet hinges would not support the camera; I had to constantly re-adjust the vest and the arms of the bracket. After 30 minutes of constant issues, I decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Returning it. It's a great idea with poor execution. For the price, it should be much, much better.

good vest not sure on the camera holder
I love the vest. It works great. Have not used the steady shot much. Not sure if it was worth purchasing.

I am a high-end amateur nature photographer who normally shoots with an awesome Gitzo tripod
I am a big fan of "appropriate technology," as that technology can help us accomplish things that would otherwise be very difficult. Such is the case with the Steady Shot and the related Vest. I am a high-end amateur nature photographer who normally shoots with an awesome Gitzo tripod. I needed to find an alternative as I will be photographing some locations that do not allow tripods. Although I have not yet used this set-up in the field, I have tested it at home. Wow! It did take me awhile to find the right combination. I found that it is better for me to not use the Really Right Stuff ball head, but rather to screw the camera directly into the Steady Shot plate. I also found that it is best for the Steady Shot to be in a folded position, rather than the straight position that Cotton recommends. With this in mind, the set-up is absolutely rock solid! I am very excited about using this in the field. Happy photography! Bob
