Yes, buried somewhere in the description the bulbs are rated as IP44. Internet searches suggest that IP44 is not what most people would believe is waterproof. It appears that if the lamps are used outside they should be sheltered from the rain (ie under a canopy of some sort or under the eaves of a building). According to www northern-connectors.co.uk 'IP44 rating does not mean the product is waterproof - so it will not be suitable for exposure to heavy rain...'. The product headline describing it as 'Outdoor' and 'Waterproof' appears to be very misleading. As other reviews have mentioned the festoon is not particularly well packaged. One reviewer has said it took 2 hours to untangle, fortunately I managed it in 10 minutes. This could easily be resolved by taking a leaf out of the book of those who package Christmas lights. Another minor niggle is that the usb socket is mounted on the side of the solar panel. It would (in my opinion) be better protected from the elements if it was on the bottom of the panel (when in its installed orientation). The on/off switch does not function as one (it does not turn off the lights), however the mode button can be used to turn them off.
