This process meets USDA National Organic Program standards, and does not diminish the nutritional value and sensory attributes of almonds.* Steam pasteurization complies with the FDA requirement that all California almonds (both organic and conventional) sold in the USA must be pasteurized. Many growers use chemicals to pasteurize such as PPO (propylene oxide) but Wild Soil Almonds does not use any chemicals.
