Proper sound quality in an earbud
I bought these after being extremely disappointed in the Apple AirPods Pro 3 whose fit (poor seal) and sound quality (too trebly, overcooked) are not for me. I had been curious about the Panasonic AZ100 for a while, and I should have trusted my gut because these are what earbuds should sound like . I been an owner of a Technics turntable from the 70's I inherited from my grandfather that still works, and I've been using high-end Panasonic cameras for the last decade. I had to get over my dependence on the Apple ecosystem and these buds function very well on iPhone as I've had no connectivity issues. The way these buds sit in your upper ear is way more comfortable and secure fit. The ANC feels nearly on par with Apple due to the better fit not leaking noise. It still has some areas where it could be better, but for earbuds this is sufficient. The sound quality is the real winner here, even with a flat EQ the range contains a nice balance of rich bass, clear mids, and appropriate treble. The easy to use app allows for multiple EQ customizations, and easy assignment of multi-tap functions. I found setting the volume down to double-tap on the left and volume up on the right to be a more efficient/reliable functionality than the slider bar haptic on the AirPods. Phone calls seems clear, will have to test more with the microphone in different environments. The case is nice and sturdy, also a nice compact size. Everything here feels like a quality build. And yes there is a charging cable included! Battery life is also very impressive, much longer than APP3 especially on the case. If your priority is sound quality and comfort then these earbuds are for you.

A Symphony of Perfection!
I recently got my hands on the new Technics earbuds, and let me tell you – they are nothing short of extraordinary. If you’re in search of the best earbuds on the market, look no further. These are in a league of their own. First, let’s talk about sound quality. It’s pure magic. The audio is so crisp and detailed that every note feels alive. The bass is deep and punchy without being overpowering, mids are warm and balanced, and the highs are crystal clear without any hint of distortion. Whether I’m listening to a symphony, a podcast, or a bass-heavy track, these earbuds deliver a flawless experience. It’s like having a personal concert in your ears. The noise cancellation? Unreal. Technics didn’t just block out background noise; they made the outside world disappear. You’ll feel fully immersed, no matter where you are – on a noisy train, at a bustling café, or in a crowded gym. At the same time, the ambient mode is equally impressive, giving you full control when you need to stay aware of your surroundings. Comfort and design are also top-notch. The sleek, modern look is paired with an ergonomic fit that feels secure yet incredibly comfortable. I’ve worn them for hours without even noticing they’re in my ears. The battery life is equally unbeatable – it lasts all day, and the charging case is compact but powerful. Technics has raised the bar for what wireless earbuds can do. They’re not just earbuds; they’re a masterpiece. Whether you’re an audiophile, a casual listener, or just someone who demands the best, these will blow your expectations out of the water. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect earbuds, the wait is over. 10/10 – worth every penny. Step aside Apple and Bose, we have a new boss in town!

Really good, great sounding earphones. Not cheap, if you are after quality, they are worth it - EDIT
I have been through a few earbuds. Had Bose Quietcomfort 2, Sony WF 1000XM5 and tried Technics AZ80. In the end I settled on AZ100, and they are the best in my opinion. My thoughts on each: Bose Quietcomfort 2 - the noise cancelling is amazing, way best of all earbuds. They are comfortable and pleasant on the ear, but sound is average. It is warm and bassy, but lacks detail. Pleasant though. Lack wireless charging. Technics AZ80 - almost very good, sound decent and are comfortable, high quality materials and finish, but still lack some detail. Good, but not the best Sony WF 1000XM5 - those were almost my favorite sound wise, the most detailed, could hear tiny little sounds in the background. Bass sounded a bit artificial though, and they had issues with connectivity. During the day would drop signal for split second many times a day (probably due to the fact I carry 2 phones, incl company one) I found it too annoying. Technics AZ100 - clear winners for me. Sound is great, maybe not quite as detailed as Sony, but a lot juicier and powerful and spacious. They are not cheap, but worth the price in my opinion. Just wish the built quality was as nice as AZ80. But love them, so pleasant and powerful. EDIT: after 10 weeks left earbud stopped charging. Tried cleaning it etc, did not help. I did a factory reset of them via the app and so far it is back to normal.

Not half bad these buds.
These are amazing earbuds. I have never had an "expensive" pair of buds before and never really thought they would be worth it, but I was wrong. The sound quality from these buds is amazing, I can hear individual instruments clearly for the first time in "ever" really. The noise cancelling is excellent, I can listen to tunes in a busy supermarket and it blocks EVERYTHING from outside. The transparency mode works well but mostly at lower sound levels, playing music on high and 80% transparency, I can mostly just hear the music but voices came through pretty well. Used the buds for calls while out walking and the quality is ok ish...I could hear the other person fine but the person who I was talking to could barely hear me and I had to end the call because of this and call back when I was somewhere quieter. The fit is decent and doesn't hurt my ears after being in for hours. You get loads of different size buds so should be good for most ear sizes. The case is light, small and pretty sleek with a metal finish, and will easily fit in a pocket or purse. All in all a decent set of buds.

Sound that encapsulates.
At first I was ultimately disappointed with the sound as the default DIRECT tuning to my ears was pretty awful. It was overly bassy and boomy....with veiled vocals and the highs lacked sparkle. Fortunately I came across the frequency response graph for these buds and made my own EQ accordingly. After my adjustments the AZ100 were transformed. The more I listened to them the more I grew to love the sound. They are indeed rich on bass, the speed, texture and nuances all come through deliciously. The vocals now have room to breathe...the sound exudes realism and it's utterly captivating. Treble is very detailed, well judged and just a joy, no harnesses to mention. I'm so chuffed at the way these buds reproduce instruments and vocals, they're utterly satisfying. Here's my EQ: - two - five Zero Zero + two + five + three + three They respond well to EQ adjustments... Give my EQ a try for a few days and see how you feel. I add an extra 2 decibels on the last 2 bass bands if I'm in the mood for more bass. In regards to the other key points.... ANC works great, transparency mode is also excellent. Mic quality is good for calls as is the noise suppression. Fit is great for me and occlusion is very minimal. The app customisation has to be commended as it's class leading. The case is small and slim, very pocketable. The AZ100 really have nailed most if not all aspects. Price is high but then so is the performance, so I don't think they're overpriced. One major downer for me is the low quality feel of the charging case. The plastic feels cheap and unsatisfactory and the magnets a little weak.

Good sound with some flaws
The main positive is that the sound quality is very good. Very clear sound and with the app the profile can be adjusted. For instance listening to dub in the bass mode is definitely an experience! However using a bass-ier profile will hugely affect battery life. I have a couple of issues that bring the score down for me. Firstly, they are quite bulky and do not fit in my ear well at all - I have quite small ears so this should definitely be a consideration for anyone buying these. Because of this it doesn't give a very good seal, making the noise cancelling less effective. The app does have some automated test to pick out the correct earbud size for each ear and that did improve it somewhat. I've also found the earbuds are loose in the case. Multiple times I have left it on charge and come back to find one or both headphones has not been charging. This could probably be solved by just making the case a tighter fit for the earbuds. This is the first pair of premium priced earbuds I've bought, so I can't compare it to others in this price range. But I think given the price, there shouldn't be basic issues like unreliable charging.

Disappointed, ANC failed after 2 weeks
Worked amazingly for 2 weeks, then the left earbud noise cancelling started acting up. Sounded like wind on a microphone, then pops and crackles. Switched noise cancelling off and it was fine. I was offered a repair (could take 20 days) for a product that I'd had new for 14 days. Not good enough!! Thought I'd try speaking to Amazon tech support thinking they would say "we'll replace it with a new set, just send them back" Call wouldn't connect. Gave up, sent them back and now I have lost my 12 months interest free offer. I was even offered £32 refund if I kept them...Come on Amazon, they're broken! Why would I want to keep them. As a side note, sonically they were fantastic but that's useless if they fail within 2 weeks

Distinctly Average
I had high hopes for the price and reviews. So let’s get into this review Functionality was pretty good, Technics have released decent app with all the functionality you could want. It has in depth noise cancellation settings and a good equalizer. The interface updated the headphone firmware when turns on and it felt in its best in this. Sound was very good overall but needed to be modified using the equaliser in the app to get the best results. Comfort was good but I found they hurt the outer ear after slight use for me. I purchased Bose quiet comfort and these were far superior for comfort and build quality for half the price. Let’s get to the point these are expensive and up there with the top, however the quality of the hardware is not very good in my opinion. It has plastic seams and a very cheap charging case. It is half aluminium and half plastic. I expected more here. The closing mechanism is driven by a magnet which is not uncommon but it closes against a polyester pad that just feels like a lower tier device. The design feels aged however, it is in line with Technics branding and ethos. Overall, I expected something great and I got just above average. I cannot fault the sound!
