Easy setup, auto connect to Alexa
My third brand of smart plug in two homes and for me the easiest to set up. Auto link to Alexa is awesome. More expensive but functionality is far more reliable. Bought two more sets already.

Easy Setup and Control
Easily learned into Cync app and then connected with Google Home. Have used Google Home app to flash the light on and off to grab the attention of a family member with dementia. Works great for us in that application.

Pretty Good Smart Plug
They usually work fine, but they will sometimes randomly not work at scheduled times with my google nest. It only happens about once a month though so I'm not too unhappy!

Spying not required
It is really nice to have a device that does its job without spying. No listening, no watching, so sending data to who knows who. You can use it with or without the usual spying platforms, or just control it with your smartphone. And...it works very well.

Nice addition to my smart home setup
These work— Matter setup was easy and works well. They are set up directly in the Alexa app! I’m not a huge fan of Cync smart home products, especially their lightbulbs (I prefer Kasa and Philips Hue). But I have a couple older Cync bulbs that are not wifi-enabled (or something?) and don’t play nice with my Alexa. I read that if you add a wifi-enabled Cync product (like these plugs) to your smart home setup, it somehow fixes the issues with the older bulbs and makes them work properly with everything. And lo and behold, once I set up these plugs, my older Cync bulbs were communicating perfectly with Alexa! Those older lightbulbs still had to be set up in the GE Cync app. But I did NOT set up these newer plugs with the Cync app — I set them up using Matter (the instructions walk you through this). For Matter setup, you need a little QR code that’s on a sticker on each plug. In case I ever need to set them up again, I’m trying to hang onto the stickers by leaving them stuck on each plug. But if you lose any of them, the QR code is also printed really small on the back of each plug. The stickers are just more convenient.

It says it works with Samsung SmartThings, but it lies.
No matter what I do, I cannot get this thing to get past the iCloud registration that apparently is now required took things up to my Samsung SmartThings hub. I discovered that all devices not only need to be on the same Wi-Fi network, which I knew, but apparently they all have to be on the same frequency for that router as well, as these plugs don’t operate on a 5 GHz frequency range, even though the smart hubs do. Even after rectifying that, this little thing still would not work. Back to Amazon it goes, and I tried the Amazon Basics hub that is a Matter compatible device, but does not claim SmartThings compatibility, but low and behold it works, and it was five bucks cheaper. So my recommendation is skipped this, and just get the Amazon Basics smart plug.
