Stories or experiences to share?** A: My dad and I purchased two of these umbrellas mostly for protection, then thinking of utility. Purchased in the USA we went on board United Airlines flights from Portland, OR to Houston, TX to Panama City, Panama. We were concerned that they wouldn't be allowed on the plane as they measured about 39 1/2". Regulations stated 39". NO PROBLEM. We kept them with us in our seats. We had no problems at all. I wouldn't hesitate to bring them on a plane ever. They are very functional umbrellas also. Terrific in heavy, windy rains. Others may break, but not this umbrella. It's a forever purchase. I highly recommend this umbrella. **Q: I understand the fabric is not covered under the warranty; but do they offer a fabric replacement kit?** A: Yes they do. You either send it to them to repair. Or they will send you the top and you can do it your self. I opted to buy water gorilla tape for tent and umbrella repair. And just went that route. Be careful with the tape when its on its on. No redos **Q: How wide is the umbrella when opened?** A: Open diameter is 47 in (1194 mm). **Q: Does it rust at all?** A: It doesn't rust. Its metal parts, including the tip/ferrule, are made of stainless steel.
