please clarify the size range of the nuts that this wrench is made to handle.

The manufacturer indicates size range to be from 1-1/4 inches to 2-1/2 inches. Thus far, I've not needed to test that range. I've only needed it fo 1-1.2 Price-Pfister nuts, for which the wrench worked spectacularly.

Will this work on large plastic wing nuts that tighten under the sink to hold the faucet down?

Yes this is exactly the tool you need. However you need to determine the size of the nut. I needed the larger size tool for the nut on my kitchen sink since my nut was larger than 1 3/8 inches.

How can anyone buy this without knowing what size the jaws are?

It has a reversible Jaw which fits 3/8 inches to 1-1/4 inch (9.5 to 3.2mm)hex and square nuts
